If you have not taken Gran Turismo 7 for a spin yet, ‘My First Gran Turismo’ will let players sample a free trial version later this year as part of PlayStation’s 30th anniversary celebrations.

It has been over two years since Gran Turismo 7 launched on PlayStation 5 and 4. But if you still have not tried it yet, ‘My First Gran Turismo’ will let you sample Sony’s flagship racing game in a “free trial version” designed to “attract diverse players of all skill levels.”

Free Gran Turismo 7 trial coming later this year

Free for all PS5 and PS4 players, My First Gran Turismo will include a curated selection of fan-favourite cars, tracks, and race events that “evoke the nostalgia and excitement of the very first GT experience”, according to the PlayStation Blog announcement. The free trial is set to arrive “this holiday,” but an exact release date has yet to be announced.

As for the content, details are scarce. It is not clear yet which cars and tracks My First Gran Turismo will include, although the accompanying artwork suggests the Lamborghini Countach, which first appeared in the 2009 Gran Turismo PSP spin-off, will be part of the roster.

Nissan GT-R Penzoil in Gran Turismo 7

Considering the link to the PlayStation’s 30th anniversary, My First Gran Turismo will likely focus on iconic cars from the original Gran Turismo like the Pennzoil-liveried Nissan GT-R, Dodge Viper GTS, and Honda NSX. We may also be revisiting classic circuits like Trial Mountain, Deep Forest, and High Speed Ring, but the car and tracks are not confirmed yet.

Whether the GT Café or online GT Sport mode will be accessible in the free sample also remains to be seen. Either way, My First Gran Turismo will hopefully help introduce new players to Gran Turismo 7.

The announcement of My First Gran Turismo follows GT7’s most recent update, which marked the return of the Eiger-Norwand mountain circuit for the first time since GT6 and added five new cars. It also broke the physics with hilarious results. After Polyphony skipped last month, Gran Turismo 7’s next update will hopefully arrive later this month.

Really it doesn't make a great deal of sense, everybody with a playstation has heard of Gran Turismo and if they ain't played it yet then a freebee shove for a micro version is really unlikely to change many minds.

If ya'll wanna sell more of this game then sell it to the PC guys.

Don't bet your shirt on it cos' you'll get cold.
Oh i bet it yes.

Why would sony release one of the few titles that sells consoles on the PC? So people can pirate it, and they lose revenue by the bucketload by not selling as many copies, and not selling as many consoles?

When was the last time a Super Mario was released on PC?...

The same reason they released games that defied the last 5 years and made people love 1st Party Playstation games. Namely the Horizon franchise, The Last of Us, and Spider-Man.

Then, big franchise games like Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted, and the mid-Sackboy game were released.

Same reason Xbox release all their big games on PC on day 1...

Because of money. Consoles make less of a profit than games do.

Im not a fan of starting at the back all the time, trying to overtake the first car.
Grinding my way trough boring races to obtain a car, you only need once or twice during the career.

MS releases their games on day 1 on PC because they are pushing for their online services, that you have to sign up for. Plus, you are effectively running their OS when you are running their game on PC.

Consoles make less of a profit?Yes they do, but also, Games now have massive budgets, they need to sell by the millions to make a decent profit. Today each gran turismo copy comes with a PS attatched. You release it on PC, and it willl be cracked in half an hour like R&C was. Not to mention the multiplayer would be imediatly broken with all the cheating what would pop up. Plus, if sony would ever do it, you would get GT7 on PC when GT8 was about to come out on the PS console.

I have seen people asking GT on PC for 20 years now. I think its better for it ,if it stays on the playstation, and Sony seems to think the same.

Also, if Sony has been paying any atention, they should have realized that if they release the game on PC, our "talented modders" would rip all its assets to AC the next day.

I was a devout GT fan, from three through six it was my go-to racing game. Leagues, the lot. It was excellent.

But the one I have to thank the most is GT Shart (Sport, if you must) as that made me look elsewhere. First to PCars2 on the PS4, then AC as it came out (still likely my favorite OMG moment was playing that game), and then into PCs and the ruinous journey we know and love.

Would I go back? No, the game was excellent at making me feel like I was a good driver, but not at making me one.
Do I miss it? Nope, if I want that experience I can now drop into Forza Motorsport.

Maybe GT7 is great, but I think it's great at what it is, nothing more.

Given how they have been releasing God of War games on PC, it sounds like a plausible scenario.

You think like game editors were thinking 5+ years ago. They finally understood that releasing a game on PC makes money, despite piracy (and you can't play online on a pirated version). Console and PC audiences are very different, games sells a lot more on PC than the number of sales not made on console because of the release on PC, particularly if the PC release is delayed. That's why almost everything is released on PC nowadays. Nintendo is a very different beast and there is many reasons they don't release on PC. GT is not released on PC mainly because it's an online game, because it sells PlayStation Plus subscriptions, which is what makes the most money, by far, and because cheating would be more of a problem with online on PC.

As of ripped assets, it can be done with console games too. Many of AC's most successful mods come from PS2 games.

I agree... with both Richard and yourself to a great degree, and, I feel it's a mistake to put all of the eggs in the Playstayion basket, while it's worked for a couple of decades the world is changing and the need to get a more 'open' diverse income has never been greater, Sony do sell the Playstation of the back of games, especially those GT games,
I myself bought a PS4 just for that game...PS5 was impossible to get at that time, however, I'll not waste money on another Playstation, so I've ruled out GT8 and further, but if Polyphony were to release GT4, 5, or 6 on the PC I'd buy them without blinking, as for GT7... yeah, I'd chuck money at them again for that on the PC.

As for subscriptions I'll not do that for any game, so for me it's all about off-line and there's no reason for the argument of Playstation losing subs.. those guys are still gonna pay their subs to race as they always have been, as for as I'm concerned I'd just have the offline version and connect when I want for updates should there be any, hell, if the right car pack came I'd likely get my lad to buy it (I don't bank online)

As for rips and mods, well that's a two sided blanket, if the game is good enough why wouldn't we get ACE PCars, and Forza cars making their way onto Gran Turismo 7 grids?and perhaps the tracks too!
In the future it's gonna be a case of whoever provides the best gaming/sim platform will be the one that gets all the rips added to it, perhaps that's why GTR2 has lasted so long.

They already do. Where do you think the Dragon Trail and Magiore come from? Where do you think the VGTs come from?

Is there some mention in the article about it being released on PC? Why are you all talking about a PC release for GT? Did i miss something?

Well you are not helping the PC case if you are giving examples of their assets being ripped already right?

I think people are overlooking this a bit too much. Asset ripping is becoming a huge problem in racing games. These guys are not sleeping, and they already noticed that in every thread for every game, there is always a guy posting "i have that car for AC".

Also, cheating is absolutely rampant on PC, and the recent esports scandals for sure dumped a lot of cold water into any thoughts of having GT online on a PC.

Well, if the game is crap but the assets are good then the assets are gonna get ripped, so if GT was on the PC and if it were good enough assets from other games/sims would get added by modders, it works both ways (as I mentioned earlier),
And if you don't like PC racing (because of cheating) you can (could/should) still race the playstation crowd on GT for whatever they charge you per month.

The only reason I don't play GT7 now is because I simply don't like the mollycoddling and the game structure, if modders could get hold of it we would have access to a better game.
