Thrustmaster Reveals Aggressive Product Reveal Roadmap

Sim hardware creator Thrustmaster has revealed an ambitious timeline for the unveiling of their upcoming products, including a new pedal set and direct drive wheelbase.

Thrustmaster revealed a long list of new products they intend to reveal before the end of this year. Among the new products are two new racing wheels, a new pedal set, flight sim yoke, flight sim joystick bundle, and a new ESWAP controller.

The product likely to catch the most attention in the sim racing world is the new direct drive racing wheelbase for PC. Some people in the sim racing community were disappointed in Thrustmaster’s reveal of the T-GT II wheelbase in June, as it seemed like an inadequate response to market competitor Fanatec’s CSL DD wheelbase. Whether Thrustmaster's DD wheelbase attempts to compete with the popular and budget-friendly CSL DD base or higher-end direct drive systems remains to be seen.

Two other key points for the sim racing community include the new pedal set for both PC and console users, plus a hybrid drive wheel bundle which is also designed for PC, Playstation and XBox. Nothing has been revealed about either product, but with mid-range pedals already on the market in the form of the T-LCM set, a higher-grade pedal set could be a good market position for Thrustmaster to enter.

For fans of flight simulators, you can expect a glimpse of Thrustmaster’s new joystick and yoke products before the end of 2021. This could prove to be another successful product for TM as the massively popular Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 continues to grow. This seems to be reflected in Thrustmaster's announcement that the joystick bundle will be available for PC only, and the yoke will be available for both the PC and XBox formats, which currently support FS2020.

Thrustmaster has also made mention of a new ESWAP controller and customization packs for both Xbox consoles and PC. These will carry on Thrustmaster’s customizable gamepad concept, allowing gamers to swap components of the controller to find their ideal ergonomics and style.

Thrustmaster closed the announcement tweet with a plea for patience and mentioned that they would answer questions about each product only after the respective reveal.

2 years ago I would have been excited to see what pricing level they would introduce for DD wheels. Not that long ago you could pick up the G29 and G920 for £99 in Curry's sales. No chance of the DD being less than £500 given how much they were charging for that T-GT thing.

Guess it all depends on whether they want to grab some fanatec share and compete on price.

To answer your question, yes, the DD wheel base interests me for sure, since I'm currently in the TM ecosystem and still considering an 'upgrade' to Fanatec's new entry-level DD wheelbase. I'm also curious about their new 'racing pedals set', wonder if it will be an upgrade of their current T-LCM with Hall sensors, for example, or an entire new thing. This kind of competition is good for us consumers so, I'll wait and see... :coffee:

I am hoping for a FFB joystick..man this would be a dream for flight sim. Way too long since the last affordable FFB Joystick was released
ehm .... to feedback what forces ?
modern planes are all hydraulic systems, in some modern fighter planes the stick doesn't even move - there's something similar to loadcell
so flying community is bothered with other question - will it blend ? :)

t-lcm already uses hall sensors (magnetic ones)
got no noise at all, good pedals for monet btw

Not everyone is flying F-22 in the simulation.

I am mostly flying WW2 aircraft and Helicopters, I can't think of anything better for flight sim then an FFB joystick. Besides that, ~90% of all aircraft in up-to-date-flight sims (IL2, DCS, MFS) do have stick forces in real life (including more or less modern aircraft like A-10 and Mig-29)

There's definitely reactionary stick forces through modern aircraft; well, relatively modern. I don't know how the very latest stuff works, if they feedback anything. An F-16 or M-2000 FBW system is a bit different from an F-35's.

The one exception might be helicopters where some prefer to fly with no centering forces whatsoever; if you let go, the stick just stays where it is from the boost assist.

The DD wheel must have been in development for a while now. They hardly threw one together since the Fanatec Babdy DD wheel came out. Will be interesting to see price and specs.

They should have released this information the moment Fanatec announced the CSL DD. It's a bit late now but it's always good news for us.

I don't think it has even been developed yet. Purely a needed reaction to Fanatec DD buyers. Anybody gonna hang on now until you see there new wheel? On that one i am being cynical. As for the T-LCM pedals. well i wore mine out in just over 12 months. A broken throttle spring and a clutch spring which has a crack in it and will be gone too. Have you seen the build quality, i have as i had to take it apart. Not going back there anymore, you know what they say and i should of taken my own advise. Quality always works out cheaper in the end......

Personally I think they were completely blindsided by the April fools joke that turned out to be true. They were just cruising along with the T-GT II sticker update. That CSL DD must've sent the design department into a complete frenzy and, looking at the wording, they hope to "announce" gear before the end of the year but it'll still have to make it to the shelves afterwards. So either it's gonna be rushed products to make the holiday season or not much to market before 2022.

As long as they got off their duffs and started competing, that's what matters. For a while, it looked like they were content with their little corner of the sim racing market. Glad to see they are motivated again.

Now if Logitech would do the same... :/

I have some products of TM (F1 Addon, TM Addon, TH8A x2, T3pa Pro) and every new products is always very appreciated but please, change the release of the steer wheels to...quick release. It's unreal today to use a screw to change every time. Experience is much better. I use this from many times and the feeling is great. From this point of view TM it is still behind...
