As the Formula One circus gets ready to tackle the 2024 Las Vegas Grand Prix, sim racers can do the same: The Assetto Corsa mod of the circuit has seen a big update just in time for the race.
The Las Vegas Grand Prix is arguably F1's biggest showpiece on the calendar: For the second time since its modern debut in 2023, the street circuit incorporating the infamous Las Vegas Strip will see Formula One cars battle it out under the neon lights. Of course, the track is available in F1 23 and F1 24 - but you can also tackle it in Assetto Corsa.
Even before the circuit's 2023 debut, track creator @Tyrone - Nukedrop Mods had his version available on OverTake - as early as April 2022, even. What initially used the concept of the actual track has evolved considerably since, and just like 2023, it has received a big update before the actual Grand Prix in 2024 as well.
Compared to the previous version, there are obvious changes as well as subtle ones that increase the immersion. For instance, the complex of turns 14 to 16 has been reworked and other track sections have been adjusted, helicopters and reflective window shaders have been added - and more. This amounts to a nice upgrade in quality.
Driving-wise, the layout might not be the most challenging, but with the abundance of neon lights, hotel signs and floodlights, the visuals do make up for it. Even the famous Las Vegas Sphere displays multiple designs, including Tyrone's own logo - some self promotion for this outstanding mod is surely well deserved in this case.
In case you forget who made the track, the Sphere is there to remind you - or to look like a basketball sometimes. Or a giant eyeball.
There is still room for improvement according to Tyrone, mainly with optimization and some of the textures. He promises: "I'll keep chipping away at it over time. More custom buildings built properly will make a big difference."
To see how the latest version of the track compares to the real one, Tyrone has created a side-by-side video on his YouTube channel.

F1 Under The Lights
Of course, the track is best enjoyed at night. Be aware that the circuit is quite resource-intensive, but Tyrone has thought of this, too. The latest update to the Las Vegas Grand Prix circuit also includes different graphics options, which can be found in the folder of the same name. This can lead to significant increases in FPS, so be sure to try and find the optimum setting for you.
