Ivory Tower has confirmed The Crew 2 & Motorfest will get “long-term access” offline. A speical showcase presentation also provides a first look at Motorfest’s upcoming island expansion and cop chase mode.

Since the servers were shut down a few months ago, 2014's The Crew has been unplayable, sparking outrage among the community. Even the single-player campaign is no longer accessible due to the online connection requirement.

After Ubisoft killed The Crew, fans were worried that its sequels would suffer the same fate in the future since The Crew 2 and Motorfest also require online connections. Thankfully, Ubisoft has addressed fans' concerns, confiring that The Crew 2 and Motorfest will receive offline patches.

The Crew 2 & Motorfest will get “long-term access” offline

We want to acknowledge that some of you have voiced concerns about the access to The Crew games. Today, we want to express our commitment to the future of The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest,” Senior Creative Director and Ivory Tower co-founder Stéphane Beley announced during a presentation showcasing Ivory Tower’s plans for year two of The Crew Motorfest.

“We are currently exploring different solutions and can confirm long-term access to both titles.” Beley did not confirm when The Crew 2 and Motorfest will receive offline patches, with more details coming in the “next months.” However, an offline patch for the original Crew game was not mentioned.

This seems tactical in response to Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown’s ongoing server issues. Solar Crown also requires an online connection, but many early adopters of the Gold Edition were unable to get past the main menu or enter races. KT Racing has worked to resolve the issues, but fans are calling on the developer to release an offline patch.

If you have not played The Crew 2 yet, now is a good time to jump in. For a limited time, the open-world racer is on sale for just € 1 / $1 / £0.84 on Steam with a 98% discount, which is an absolute steal.

Year 2 Brings New Island & Cop Chase Mode

The countdown to Solar Crown’s general release this week is nearly over, but there is still much to look forward to in The Crew Motorfest. This month marks The Crew Motorfest’s first anniversary, and to celebrate, Ivory Tower hosted a special showcase presentation unveiling its Year 2 plans for Motorfest.

Starting on November 6, Season 5 will bring a new island to explore set in Maui. At nearly 50% of O’ahu’s size, the large new map will add over 100km² of forests, beaches, and towns, celebrating Maui’s vibrant culture. It can be accessed seamlessly with no loading screens via a new connecting bridge or by sea or air. Best of all, Maui will be added in a free update. Incidentally, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown will also get a map expansion in December based on TDU2’s Eivissa town in Ibiza.

In addition, Season 5 will also introduce a new playlist, with ‘Made in Japan Volume 2 bringing new neon-lit races, events, and locations, plus new cars and challenges. The Year 2 Pass will also add 13 new premium cars, including the 2022 BMW M5 CS and 1989 Nissan Skyline GT-R R32.

Finally, the Year 2 update will also bring premium PVE content with ‘The Chase Squad.’ This Hot Pursuit-style mode sees players join a police squad chasing down and taking out urban street racers in high-speed pursuits. Chase Squad members will get behind the wheel of custom cop cars such as a Ford Mustang, Porsche 911 GT3 RS, and W Motors Lykan Hypersport.

The Chase Squad will be included in the Year 2 Pass, available on November 6, or part of the refreshed Gold and Ultimate Editions of The Crew Motorfest launching on the same date.

The Crew 2’s post-launch support was commendably comprehensive, with regular updates adding new campaigns, cars, and gameplay improvements years after its initial release. Hopefully, this is a sign that The Crew Motorfest will enjoy similarly dedicated support.

Ubisoft desperately trying to save face after the debacle with the Crew 1 and how poor Star Wars Outlaws sales have been.

Saying that though I played motorfest not that long ago and as a pick up and play arcade game it's not too bad it just suffers with the usual ubisoft engine annoyances like the fact they don't seem to be able to simulate mirrors.

And I can't launch the game due to server "maintenance".

I can hear my son playing it on the other PC.....

Well, at least it's only a couple bucks wasted. Should have known better.

Yeah not paid much attention to AAA publishers fortunes but that has been in the news with Outlaws doing so badly. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a semi crash in gaming at some point.

Not being funny but with these AAA and some AA game producers something like that needs to happen them and the shareholders of their owners are getting too complacent and comfortable in putting out unfinished games.

Yeah I kind of wish it would. Gaming kind of is all a bit corporate now and sterile. I don't know what the solution is really though given the vast teams major releases need. I guess games like Black Myth make some Western stuff look bloated and over staffed.

Considering the Crew 2 is available now for 80 cents I'm thinking it will rank quite highly in the next steam stats.

I just bought 3 copies...
Not bad I just purchased The Crew Motorfest - Ultimate Edition for £30 after reading the post about a offline mode, not bad for 70% off a £100 game.

This is all because the trending "Stop Killing Games" initiative gained a little bit more traction then they couldve imagined!! We should take note of the panic/reaction of Ubisoft damage control team.

And what about the Crew 1? Why not fixing it once for all and please the customers instead of letting modders do the job? Just pay them for the job they've already done and finish it. I wonder how much sales this whole debacle around the Crew 1 has cut for the current games. If Ubisoft is doing something now, there must have been consequences and Ubiqoft needs to improve its image and popularity (it took a huge fall of the company's value to understand). From my side it did have consequences : no offline The Crew, no more buying Ubisoft games.

Let's keep the positive note for the Crew2 and Motorfest, these are good news, although a game working offline should not be a piece of news at all, it just works as it should be in the first place.
