rFactor 2 and BTCC: Thruxton Announced for the Sim!

After getting Croft Circuit yesterday, now we get another British race track for the rFactor 2 Q4 update. Thruxton Motorsports Centre is coming. Fully Laser Scanned.

This reveal marks the third racing circuit to be added to this content drop. Studio 397 seems to be really stepping up the pace right now.

The Track Itself

Thruxton is one of these British circuits. You know the ones. The ones based on the premises of a former Royal Fair Force airfield.

In the 50s was when the first motorsports activities began to appear at Thruxton. First, there were only motorcycles. These circuit configurations, running until 1964, used part of the runways and part of the perimeter roads.

1968 was when Thruxton, as we know it today, was first raced at. In those days, it hosted Formula Two and the FIM Endurance World Championship.

More racing organisers piled upon the premises in the 70s, including Formula 5000, British F3 and the BTCC. The BTCC has been hosted on the circuit since 1979, Thruxton, therefore, surviving multiple generations of British touring car regulations.

The Q4 Content Drop So Far

Up until now, the Q4 content drop releases the following DLC:
Furthermore, tomorrow will feature the ACTUAL last piece of content for the Q4 drop, probably. So far, that reveal is only known to not be a BTCC-related car.

EDIT: Yet another track will grace the presence of rFactor 2 as the last Q4 piece of content!

How do you find Thruxton coming to rFactor 2? Let us know in the comments down below!

WAIT.
the Alpine A480 is coming from Advanced Simulation Modding Group... to be honest, yesterday was the indicated date for the release, but nothing was released.... maybe that's why.

Thruxton really is a great track to watch or drive around.High speed & great racing.

Might have a look at RF2 if they can put together a complete BTCC car/track/driver Championship..

The trouble is "complete" or "finished" with polish is not really something RF2 or MSG is known for so I wont get to excited.

Thruxton too! Damn, next Knockhill and so?! So badly wish classic versions of these, and Super Tourers. Pllleeeaaaassseee!!!...

Ah my place of work problem with sim racing is its not scary enough!! not complaining tho, great addition!

that was today, tomorrow will be another annoucement
You ARE correct! It pays to read things fully... lol ...

Like I wrote yesterday, all of this is probably taken from the official BTCC game that was announced a while back.

I'm intrigued but also put off by rFactor 2 prices and the fact that I'm not a big fan of that sim. But the possibility of racing BTCC cars is interesting. I'm hoping for some sort of package which would make purchasing all of it not as expensive as buying individual cars and tracks.

I agree that a pack would be nice but that screws over the people that have been buying the content as it is released....but I guess they get the benefit of playing sooner rather than later.

Also I am not sure they want to do the math for people as it would compare to the promised BTCC game.

There will be a package at some point, but not til they release all the content piecemeal first.

I hope for Porsche 911 GT3 R 2019 or Mercedes AMG GT3 Evo.
But please Porsche GT3 current version.

Would need to be a substantially discounted pack to make it worth it to me.
If I'm not mistaken, when bought in the current 'early adopter' phase the complete BTCC content will amount to a total cost of €99 (7x €9 tracks + 4x €9 dual car packs).

Premium
rFactor 2 has arrived:cool:
...thoroughly looking forward to all new Quality / Consistent looking content;)
