In just under two weeks, the free-to-play racing title Rennsport will take its first step towards a release as Early Access starts in December 2024, with the full launch set to happen in 2025.

From a new UI to promises of new content, Rennsport looks to power into its Early Access period this December. Thus far, the sim has been in an Open Beta state since the Summer of 2024.

The fourth radio check is now live on Rennsport's YouTube channel. This announcement contains a plethora of new information, content, and screenshots. Rennsport's new UI, Which they teased previously, will be implemented in their Early Access build, and a new car, the BMW M2 CS Racing, is coming to the sim.

New UI

The new UI for Rennsport's early access is a significant upgrade from the previous small pictureless boxes that plagued the title. The new design is a work in progress, but it is a considerable upgrade, even in its current state.

Rennsport's new UX/UI design in early access

Rennsport's UI is being improved by increasing the size of the buttons, making it more accessible for people who are further away from their monitor. The new interactive feature allows you to select your favourite, most recently raced, or latest car as a featured animated backdrop.

Founders Pack

New information on the founder's packs was also released, with the 'Founder's Island' nearing completion. Whilst sounding like a mid-2000s TV show, Founder's Island holds a race track with everyone's name either on the wall or the run-off, depending on which tier of the pack you have purchased.

New Free Car: BMW M2 CS

One of the most common 'Beginner' cars in most simulators, the BMW M2 CS continues to dominate at the lower levels of competition with its integration into the Rennsport's early access program. The M2 CS is a rear-wheel-drive baby GT car that is the best step for new and experienced players looking to step up to GT4 or GT3 cars.

BMW M2 CS Racing render

The significant part about an addition like the M2 CS is that it can be free for everyone who signs up. Like the Mazda MX-5s or Formula Fords on iRacing, this series will be dedicated to new Rennsport or sim racing players in general.

Battle Pass-style Mechanic

Like a prime Fortnite, a battle pass-style system to unlock additional items has been officially announced for Rennsport. This content style is not found in racing simulators, and as Rennsport aims to compete with the likes of iRacing and Assetto Corsa Competizione, this might be something many sim racers will have a hard time accepting.

What do you think about the battle pass system? Is it something you want to see brought into racing sims?

Completing specific missions within Rennsport will be the name of the game. Comparisons between Need For Speed Unbound's Speed Pass and the Formula One games' Podium Pass could be made. No content has been shown for the battle pass, so time will tell how well it is implemented.

The next update is estimated to hit the sim on December 4th, 2024. However, a complete, non-early access version is scheduled for early to mid-2025.

What do you think about Rennsport's new update? Will you be playing the early access build in December? Let us know in the comments below!

The battle pass is a risky move, especially for a PC only game (at least for now).
The special liveries were already not well received, and now the system to get these not-well-received liveries is also likely not going to be well received.

Honestly, I think many sim racers scoff at anything that doesn't look like a tech demo. If the UI isn't mouse only with tons of visual pollution like a 90s website, most people will call it "arcade" or "mobile game". Same applies to content and how it's sold, DLC packs and season passes vs individual items is a topic of conversation and sim racers HATE the "gamification" of their favourite gam, I mean simulator.

But also, I understand how predatory "battle passes" are and people don't like them for a good reason. Still, let's not forget Rennsport is F2P so the money needs to come from somewhere other than a car or track purchase here and there. Yes, Raceroom is F2P but its free offering pales in comparison to what Rennsport has, and apparently will still have once it is released.

Damn, really interested to see what is part of the Battle Pass. Considering the state of the playerbase, it might be the one thing to bolster their participation numbers.

On another note, the M2 CS Racing once again being a base content car. First in rF2, then soon in iRacing and now in Rennsport.

I still have the same question that, I had day one, about this offering, what does it bring the we do not have already better in other title.
That said, I wish them luck, I have the feeling they will need a lot of it.
Same. I have nothing against the titlle, but also never felt the motivation to check it.

As we say in Brazil, "I am neither for nor against, quite the opposite"... (it's meant to be confusing...)

I hope they are successful and I hope there will be more variety of content in it in the future.

This game looks like its going to be instantly dead the moment AC Evo comes out.

My advice to save it would be to make it a F2P fully open modding platform, and just hope it gets adopted by the community as a viable alternative to the more feature-rich sims already taking up everyone's time.

With that kind of playerbase, then you can monetize what you want and maybe the community will support you if you're not complete ding dongs about it.

Oh don't be too sarcastic about this title. It is coming slowly but surely.

If they can fix their problems of too much grip and bad optimization, it can be better than you think.

I like it a lot because of its sheer driving pleasure.

I will not purchase this game.
Not enough content for the price, fps too low,...
Other games are a lot more fluent on my pc.

Only assetto corsa/evo and iRacing are the titles that really makes sense in this industry, anything else is just bloatware

Don't know what price you are talking about since now and the beta will remain free.
Founders pack is for people that want to support the game, and you can play not having it.
In the video the say that if you install the beta you get a GT3 car for free that will remain yours forever.
If you install later, you will get a car for free in another category.
Early Access will come early next month and in EA cars and tracks will remain free to drive, statistical data will be stored only for the cars you own. Also alternative skins will be usable only on cars you own.
Later, when the game will launch, the tracks will remain free with few excetions (like Nordschleife).
Other cars will be offered in the shop to buy.
Battle pack will also be introduced with a "reward track" but I don't know what will bring.
They will also introduce tools to moderate on-line play.
And later AI for offline play, beside testing and time trial present now.
