The V8 Supercars series is the most popular racing series in Australia. A 2003 V8 Supercars mod throws it back over 20 years in Automobilista 2.
The 2003 V8 Supercars mod by OverTake user MrRandom287 might look like a reskin for Reiza's Super V8 model. However, if you look closely at the four models and 32 designs included in this mod for Automobilista 2, they are far from that, despite them all looking alike (using the Super V8 model in the game).
You have four cars to choose from in this mod: The Ford BA Falcon and AU Falcon, and the Holden VX Commodore and VY Commodore are on the grid - just like in 2003. All of these cars have something different to offer. The handling and driveability of these cars have been altered and adjusted to reflect their real differences in handling and power.
Bathurst's deadly concrete walls claim another V8 Supercar...
Modern Supercars (without the V8 in the name these days) competition has not strayed all that far from what it was like in the early 2000s, meaning there still is plenty of wheel-to-wheel to action. Tracks like the legendary Bathurst are still present on the calendar, further solidifying Supercars' history to both old and new fans.
The model of the car is the same as the Reiza car, which is this mod's only real weakness. If you did not know about the handling changes, it could quite easily just be mistaken for a skin pack. That could not be further from the truth, though.
The feedback through my wheel gave me more relevant information than the Super V8s, improving an already great class is a great start. I found these cars to be slippy and punishing when you drove them too hard. The Super V8s hold your hand more, almost making it feel like it is hard to spin and make a mistake.
However, these older 2003-spec cars are a bit of a different ball game to most modern machinery. No traction control, ABS, and stability control, combined with a six-speed sequential gearbox, make these cars a real battle to drive smoothly whilst also being competitive.
The 2003 pack cars, across all four variants, all feel on the edge and very engaging to drive. I would highly recommend them to anyone who loves old-school touring car racing. To be fast, you have to be right on the limit - which is tough, but thrilling in these high-power, low-downforce beasts.

What Are V8 Supercars?
To someone who is not clued up on Australian motorsport, V8 Supercars might seem like a foreign series that is hard for anyone outside of Australia to sink their teeth into. This is not quite the case, however. The series is broadcast live across the globe on the SuperView live streaming service as well as on the Supercars website and YouTube channel - although the difference in time zones might make it difficult to follow the races live.Bathurst's deadly concrete walls claim another V8 Supercar...

What's included?
As mentioned, the 32 cars from the 2003 V8 Supercars series are included alongside custom handling physics for each of them. The debut of the mod's own class within AMS2 is well implemented. This separates this mod from Reiza's V8 Super in a user-friendly and grid-compatible way.The model of the car is the same as the Reiza car, which is this mod's only real weakness. Editor's Experience
While I was trialling this mod pack, I took the 2003 Supercars to Adelaide Street Circuit; and the legendary Mount Panorama Circuit in Bathurst as well. I spent over four hours learning how to drive these cars on the limit, and I learned a great amount during that period. The feedback through my wheel gave me more relevant information than the Super V8s, improving an already great class is a great start.
