RaceRoom: Porsche Pack Update Also Introduces ABS & TC Revisions

RaceRoom has officially released their Porsche Pack, featuring three new racing cars that OverTake had the chance to preview exclusively ahead of their launch - but that is not all the new update includes: New liveries and revised in-car systems are also part of the new version.

It was no secret that the Porsche 911 GT3 R (992), the 911 GT3 Cup and the 944 Turbo Cup would be added to RaceRoom, as the new models had been covered extensively in the last few weeks, but developer KW Studios decided to throw in a few extras for the update as well.

The trio of Porsches will set sim racers back €8.97/£7.79/$10.06, but the pack's cars are also available individually in case not all three of them pique your interest. Separately, the vehicles cost €3.98/£3.46/$4.46 each in the RaceRoom Store.

More McLaren Designs

While all of the three new Posches come with their own set of real world liveries, RaceRoom's rendition of the McLaren 720S GT3 also received new designs - a dozen, to be exact. The 12 new liveries are now available via the RaceRoom store.

Meanwhile, adjustments have been made on the gameplay side as well: Both the ABS and Traction Control settings have been subjected to an "optimised revision", according to the Porsche Pack release notes. What exactly this entails has not been detailed yet, however.

This morning I was twarted by the infamous "server down for maintenance" popup. So no Porsche pack for me until 19:30. Thats about the time I get home from work. I can't wait for the shift to end (for more reasons besides the Porsche pack releasing), and I cannot wait to try the new 992s. They sound like they are a blast to drive.

I liked how the previous Porsche GT3 felt in RaceRoom, so I'll be curious to try out the 992 in test mode and see what I think. Also, how awesome is it RaceRoom has a way to test cars before you buy?! :)

I understand RaceRoom has made a choice from the start to only have current-era versions of tracks, but especially since they're not religiously laser-scanning every track, it's a shame they haven't released any vintage layouts of tracks - e.g. Castrol S Nurburgring GP, or old Hockenheim. Would go perfectly with their historic content like the 90s DTM cars... or the 944 Turbo.

Surprisingly there are many crucial updates in this one : ABS, TC, longitudinal forces on tires that should make the FFB more informative under breaking, diggerencial adjustments on several cars (including the Formula 90s, which I think had something wrong in that aspect, and the GT2s, which had something wrong too), suppression of steering assistance on cars that should never had it available (we should expect some changes in historic cars?)... AI received some updates too.

I don't know if AMS2 next update annoucement frightened raceroom or if it is a coincidence, but these are absolutely good news.

Yes for the 944 !! But the FFB is still not informative enough, especially when it comes to braking...

Overlooked sim. Used the opportunity to get the whole content for 50€ during summer sales after 1000+ hours in ACC and honestly I'm having A LOT of fun, there's just so much to play with!

Busy right now learning the game so I have a lot on my hands but I'll get those babies eventually. (Did I mention the sounds were sublime?)

Make sure you're using OtterHUD. That's when the love affair with RaceRoom really begins.

Well, I updated RR and did a few test drives and the actually thought the 992 was more fun to drive than the 944. The 944 is pretty easy, it's a bit like MX-5s in that you won't be making big mistakes with it, it's all about perfecting everything. It's not lairy at all. In terms of close racing, it's probably a good choice.
