Number 6
Volkswagen ID. R
The ID. R is Volkswagen’s first purely electric race car and won the 2018 PIkes Peak International Hill Climb. It broke the record for electric vehicles and also became the fastest car to ever travel up P:ikes peak. If you’ve never driven an electric car before, it’s a strange experience, and it does take some time to get out of the habit of trying to change gears.
Volkswagen is driving electromobility forward at pace. The racing spearhead of this type of drive is the fully-electric ID. R. The thoroughbred sports car consists of a highly efficient carbon monocoque with lightweight bodywork and a high downforce aerodynamic setup. The two electric motors with a maximum system performance of 500 kW (680 hp) transmit their power to all four wheels.
