While not one of the biggest events for sim racing, gamescom 2024 did have a good amount of news in store for our favorite hobby. We want to know: Did you follow the event?

It is one of the biggest events in gaming in the world - year after year, gamescom draws the attention of the entire industry, and 2024 was no different. This includes triple-A titles, indie games, and anything in between - meaning sim racing too, of course.

It is certainly not the main attraction in Cologne, and pure sim racing events like Sim Formula Europe in Maastricht or the ADAC SimRacing Expo are usually what sim racers are looking forward to more. But in recent years, the discipline has seen its representation grow, and most sim racing-related booths were concentrated in hall 10.1 at gamescom 2024, giving it a bit of a mini sim racing event flair.

Gamescom had a few very interesting unveilings for sim racers in store, the biggest arguably being MOZA Racing's CRP2 pedal set mBooster and active pedal upgrade.

That is far from all, however. As our gamescom 2024 sim racing news rundown shows, the list was a good bit longer, and most of it consisted of hardware-related news - the big insights into upcoming titles like Assetto Corsa EVO or Project Motor Racing were not to be found in Cologne, unfortunately, so more patience will be needed.

Still, MOZA's reveal, the first showing of the Revosim hardware or the Corsair sim racing rig happened at gamescom, so sim racing companies do see value in the event - how about the sim racers themselves, though?

Let us know whether you followed gamescom 2024 for sim racing news in the poll above, and feel free to give your take on the event in the comments below!

These events are all about Hardware these days. Seems the margins are so juicy for these mega expensive game controllers, that everybody and their mother wants a piece of this tiny market.

Trouble is, the software is that matters more, and that is nowhere to be seen, and doesnt get nowhere near the same investment.

Sim racing is too niche for these things...

As much as it'd be great to see anyone from Kunos, S397, Reiza, KW Studies, BeamNG, Rennsport or iRacing at one of these events making new announcements... The best we could hope for is EA, Turn 10, Polyphony or Ian Bell...

With all due respect, I must admit that the recent fair left me disappointed, particularly in the realm of racing simulators. As an enthusiast, I had high expectations, hoping to see a wide range of cutting-edge simulators that would push the boundaries of realism and immersion. Unfortunately, what I found was far from what I had anticipated. One standout was Moza, a company that has rapidly risen to prominence, displacing Fanatec as the undisputed leader in the simulation space. Moza's growing variety of products is impressive!!!!

Not really for me...
Moza stood out though....

These kind of shows are usually expensive to exhibit at, setup and staff.

Makes more sense that a "SIM" related hardware or indeed software based company with either something new to showcase or promote. Would prefer to spend their budget at shows like "Sim Expo" targetting, attending enthausiasts as well as teaming up with (invited influencers).

Spot on. It is a highly profitable market with massive margins, if people knew how much there would be an outrage. That's the reason behind so many players fishing for sales in such a small niche, because even if they don't sell huge volumes, every single sell has a massive profit margin.
