After kicking off at Silverstone, the OverTake British GT4 League in Assetto Corsa Competizione is heading to virtual Donington for round 2 of the series - watch live on Twitch!
A well-frequented grid, a good variety in GT4 machinery, and tricky conditions at Silverstone - the first round of the OverTake GT4 League in Assetto Corsa Competizione was a great kick-off for the series. With 23 drivers competing, the GP layout of the iconic UK track was filled well - and there was a fair amount of action, too!
In a drying qualifying session, @MichaelT28 played their strategy right and took pole position ahead of @scrabblegg, and it would turn out that the pair of them would be the ones that battled for the win. Not that the way to victory was an easy one, however.
While they both led 11 laps each over the course of the race, things were a bit more argy-bargy further down the order, with cars tripping over each other occasionally. However, the Racing Club rules were respected, and once things had settled a bit, drivers were able to find their groove for the most part.
Meanwhile, the leaders had apparently filled their tanks to last for the entirety of the 60-minute race, so they could simply pit for wets at the perfect time - and it showed in the final standings, with @Michel Wolk in third finishing almost a minute behind @scrabblegg and @MichaelT28.
With Silverstone in the books, it is time to move on to another iconic UK venue - Donington Park awaits for round 2 of the championship! Again, the track could have quite a few surprises in store, as the entire championship is run on random weather. The sweeping bends and elevation changes are challenging in the dry already, and rain would certainly make them even more difficult to navigate.
To find out how things shake out in virtual Derbyshire, tune in to the race broadcast on Twitch starting at 20:00 UTC! After a practice and qualifying session of 15 minutes each, the hour-long race will be underway to find out who prevails at Donington, and the broadcast will join the action just before the green flag flies for the race!

Rain Adds Some Spice
It would not be a simple journey to the flag, however. In the final third of the race, and in true British fashion, rain started to appear - first, it fell only lightly, then it became more intense. As those drivers who opted to split their fuel loads to run the race in two equal-length stints had already pitted and taken new dry tires, this led to an interesting scenario in which some opted to pit again for wets while others tried to make it to the end on slicks.Meanwhile, the leaders had apparently filled their tanks to last for the entirety of the 60-minute race, so they could simply pit for wets at the perfect time - and it showed in the final standings, with @Michel Wolk in third finishing almost a minute behind @scrabblegg and @MichaelT28.
