Mobile game developer Kairosoft released their port of 'Grand Prix Story', a motorsports management game, to PC via Steam. This little game brings a fun excursion from the seriousness of racing.
Have you heard of Kairosoft? If you have, you are probably associating them with fun little mobile games like 'Game Dev Story' or 'Pocket Academy'.
In 2011, they released a mobile game called 'Grand Prix Story', successful enough to warrant a second instalment in 2017.
This year, however, Japanese mobile game developer Kairosoft began porting their games collection to PC via Steam. Just recently, their first racing game found its way to the digital marketplace. And it is a fun little diversion from the serious sims we race all day.
One might say "if you've played one Kairosoft game, you've played them all", one statement I definitely agree with. The basic layout and gameplay are always pretty much the same. But that doesn't bother me, personally. I enjoy those micro-management games.
Well, you create your own racing team.
You build your own cars, hire staff and let your racing driver race against the best Kairosoft has to offer.
And the best they have to offer is the jokes.
Immediately, when hiring my first staff I went for this lovely person:
Axle. Rows. I have no idea where this reference came from, but I laughed out loud at seeing this person show up to hire as a mechanic.
Of course, I immediately hired them.
Other than that, you train your staff, including your driver, research and upgrade your vehicles and parts, and of course you race.
Have you ever raced against budget Speed Racer while a monkey watched on? Me neither. Truly, the height of both motorsports and gaming as a whole.
And one thing I can't shake off is the feeling I had when I won my first race.
Such a magnificent view from the top step of the podium.
With that said, if you'd like to try out Grand Prix Story for yourself, you can find the game on Steam, the Google Play Store and of course the App Store.
There are no microtransactions and it's really just a fun diversion.

There can't be positives without negatives, however.
Unfortunately, the port itself is rather poor. Nothing was changed other than you can control the game with Mouse or Gamepad (no surprise given they have released 24 game ports already this year). These games are still best played on touch screens in my opinion. With that said, if you'd like to try out Grand Prix Story for yourself, you can find the game on Steam, the Google Play Store and of course the App Store.
