One of the biggest esports events of the year, the Le Mans Virtual Series, has published details about the upcoming races.
Following closely behind the real 24 Hours of Le Mans race for 2021, the virtual series has been confirmed with more details.
The Le Mans Virtual event is a series of races culminating in a virtual recreation of the famous French endurance race. The first four races are also endurance races, though much shorter than the 24-hour finale. Fans of the virtual series won’t have long to wait for the event, as the first race is set for the 25th of this month.
Here is a look at the calendar of events in the series:
Le Mans Virtual uses rFactor 2 as its platform, and 38 competitors will take part in this year’s race. The event attracts not only elite level racers from the sim racing world, but also some bigger names from real-world motorsports. Last year’s field included names such as Kamui Kobayashi, Max Verstappen and Lando Norris, alongside well-known sim racers such as Jimmy Broadbent, Rudy van Buren and Jarno Opmeer.
Organizers will be hoping for an event equally as exciting as the real 24 Hours of Le Mans this year. The famous and historic endurance event did not disappoint this year, and featured weather complications, a new car class, dramatic (though thankfully not serious) crashes, last lap mechanical failures, and an LMP2 finish decided by just 0.7 seconds!
