New content is finally around the corner for Le Mans Ultimate: The 2024 WEC season had already been confirmed to be coming to the sim - and the BMW M Hybrid V8 is going to be the first step.

UPDATE May 27, 2024, 18:20 CEST

After releasing the teaser in the morning, Le Mans Ultimate confirmed what the community seemed to be able to hear from the video already: The BMW M Hybrid V8 is coming to the LMU grid. The Hypercar that made its WEC debut in 2024 will be available on June 10 - and completely for free, as the announcement trailer underscored.

ORIGINAL ARTICLE May 27, 2024, 11:01 CEST

When Le Mans Ultimate released into Early Access on the eve of the 2024 World Endurance Championship season, it did not feature the current class of cars or tracks - yet. Players have all cars (sans the Le Mans-only Garage 56 NASCAR entry) and circuits of the 2023 campaign at their disposal, but with the surge in popularity the real series is currently experiencing, the current grid cannot come soon enough for many.

Whether or not it is eventually going to be a full season's worth of content in a single pack or a more gradual release is not known yet, but Le Mans Ultimate will receive its next big patch ahead of the real 2024 24 Hours of Le Mans, which take place from June 15 to 16. A teaser now confirms June 10 to be the date endurance fans should be looking forward to.

Onboard A BMW?

The teaser, released on Twitter and the LMU YouTube channel does not show much - or anything other than the Circuit de La Sarthe, really. But the caption of "A new arrival is on its way..." coupled with the onboard engine sound of the car the teaser is shot from hints at a brand-new prototype - which sounds suspiciously like the BMW M Hybrid V8.

Despite the car making its racing debut in 2023 already, it has only started racing in WEC this season, having previously competed in IMSA only. Now, it is present in both series, although it has been a bit of a struggle for the Bavarian manufacturer thus far. The best finish for a BMW in the 2024 WEC season was sixth in Imola for Robin Frijns, René Rast and Sheldon van der Linde.

It will be interesting to see further teasers until June 10 - after all, there is a lot more content to theoretically choose from. Not only are there four new tracks on the calendar (Qatar, Imola, Interlagos, COTA), there are also four new Hypercars (BMW M Hybrid V8, Alpine A424, Lamborghini SC63, Isotta Fraschini Tipo 6-C) plus the extensively reworked Peugeot 9X8 on the grid - as well as the class of GT3 cars, which replaced the outgoing GTEs.

However, Motorsport Games CEO Stephen Hood also stated that "the first piece of content comes online in June and thereafter, pretty much, every two or three months we're looking to launch additional content – ideally in packs" in early May - so unless the plan has changed since then, more patience could be needed.

Interestingly, the "Coming June 10" graphic does not feature the 2024 liveries for either of the three Hypercars on it.

Don't forget this game is still in early beta, plans to start charging for online and future updates, with possible subscription service and this is the last free update they have planned. Never mind the fact the game is losing players at an amazing rate but hey guys lets charge and completely kill the game.

BTW they plan to start charging soon, meanwhile.. No VR, No TrackIR, basic replay system, and No Actual Damage models

aww did I upset you? I'm glad to see you're okay with this business practice. I am not. I'm also just stating facts. You know what facts are right? And a personal opinion different than your own. But hey my opinion is different than yours is so I must be wrong.. right? ;)

How cool is this game, I really hope it becomes popular, I can't wait to see the next content coming. Frankly, I don't understand those who always complain that there are subscriptions and paid content. After all, iRacing is also based like this, what do you think that the developers live on air and release everything for free? You don't work for free. You need support to work well and I will gladly give it to you since the game promises very well.:thumbsup:

New content is cool, but I much prefer the missing single-player features to land: the ability to switch drivers, save your race in the middle, co-op, etc. This is what will make the game truly great on top of the really good fundamentals that it already has.

I am no fan of MSG but why is it so bad for a game developer to charge for content either by DLC or subscription?I think way to many people in the sim community are spoiled by the excellent free mods for Assetto Corsa that they think they are entitled to content.Someone has to pay WEC for using their series in a game and this capitalist system works quite well in sim racing. If it is good, people buy it and if it is garbage they dont.

The content will come first to fulfil contract obligations is the simple answer. They know what they've got to do to get the game finished but with big series like this the contract obligations will come first.

Not sure how many are using TrackIR, but certainly unwise to not support VR these days. And with the VR-workaround it seems obvious, that there is not much needed to make VR work properly. The game just needs to show menues and HUD in VR and it would be okay for me. No AA is another issue, but I could live with that.

The failure of this title, even if we ignore the ineptness of MSG doesn't bode well for any single-series focused title.

Considering that outside of F1, lemans would have to be the most well known or at least heard of race and most likely to have some level of mainstream recognition.

So, No need to implement VR, That wont save it, and the small amount of revenue bought in by the initial sales would have already disappeared into their cavity of debt without even causing pause for the MSG train wreck.

No you're just whining and crying like a child. Get a life.
People have a right to their opinion, wether they need to voice it is another topic. However just because someone disagree with your views does not mean you have to attack other people like that on the forum. Chill on the insults.
Same goes the other way.

Yeah I'm gutted with this one. I (PERSONALLY) don't want to hand over money for an unknown quantity, even for my favorite series. At least I would like to know what it costs to get what I want, rather than invest now and hope for the best.

To buy it, I (PERSONALLY) want to be able to play an offline championship of Le Mans as it is in 2024. I think that's reasonable. The game needs to work properly. If that means buying the base game and extras, what is the complete cost. But I can wait.

Its a shame this game has almost died on arrival. imho i think the devs forgot that even in early access a game that is multiplayer focused has to have some degree of stability. Its fine to crash in single player but online when theres SA and DR at risk its a no no.
If only they had focused another month on stability b4 release.

A new car will be welcome, even if it is a 2023 model, new to WEC for 2024.
But that is a long way to go to represent a 2024 season as many cars and many tracks will still be missing.
When you claim to offer a series focused game, you need to offer the total series content: cars, tracks and liveries.
I hope, the June update will at least advance this game to a better state, bringing the features that should have been there all along, as they are part of RF2, and possibly features that should be in any 2023/2024 game offering.
This offering will not do well based only on the adoration from the RF2 diehards, as vociferous they can be in this particular forum. The truth is, we are seeing so much potential but so little achievement.
Instead of teasing, which by the way, only works if you are beautiful, just let every body know what you have really achieved as progress so far and what we can expect June 10th, before we loose interest totally.
