Japanese Drift Master will not be ready in time for a 2024 release - developer Gaming Factory has announced that the game's launch will be postponed to Spring 2025.

Fans of drifting and, most likely, Initial D, need to have some more patience: After initially being announced to be released in 2024, Japanese Drift Master will not be ready until the end of the year. Developer Gaming Factory has announced that the game will launch in Spring of 2025 instead. "This extra time will allow us to deliver the highest quality experience", stated a Tweet on the official JDM account.

Accompanying the announcement is a new dev log. Coupled with the prologue JDM: Rise of the Scorpion, which was launched in August and is free to play, the wait should be manageable as a result. The dev log unveils a new location called Ichikara. Albeit fictional, the city is "inspired by Tokyo's most modern districts, is packed with neon lights, towering billboards and stunning skyscrapers".

Additionally, the post shows a new teaser to Japanese Drift Master that focuses on three different Mazda cars taking to the streets of Ichikara. Alongside Mazda, the open-world title will also feature licensed cars from Nissan and Subaru that can be customized via "a wide range of tuning options, from modifying car parts, to visual mods, unique paint jobs and even full mod kits".
