As we approach 2024 Season 4 on iRacing, the developers have detailed all of what sim racers can expect in the next build and beyond, such as new cars and tracks, plus revisions being made to pre-existing content.

After the reveal of the McLaren 720S GT3 Evo being confirmed for addition into iRacing in time for 2024 Season 4, we now know all of the additional content being added onto the platform. The development team at iRacing.com Motorsport Simulations provide tri-monthly updates, and they just released their August post.

2024 Season 4 Content

Cars

Alongside the McLaren GT3 comes another sports car that will hold some major significance in many a sim racer's heart in 2024, the BMW M4 GT4 Evo (G82). Having been added to both Rennsport and RaceRoom in recent months, now it will be the turn of iRacing with the car that prolific sim racers Jimmy Broadbent and Steve 'Super GT' Alvarez Brown have been racing in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie with Misha Charoudin and Manuel Metzger as their teammates.

Broadbent, Brown and Metzger won the six hour NLS race in their class just last weekend. No doubt it will be usable in the iRacing Nürburgring Endurance Championship, replacing the outgoing F82 model. iRacing have stated that if a player has purchased the previous M4 GT4 within the last year, they will receive credits if they purchase the new model. The amount will depend on how recently they picked up the previous M4 GT4.

The previously-confirmed Mini Stock will be added for the oval crowd, in configurations for both for the tarmac and dirt oval tracks. The car will be accessible for Rookie class oval races and subsequently, will be accessible to all iRacing subscribers as base content.

Tracks

Now we come to tracks, with Cadwell Park being introduced into iRacing for 2024 Season 4. We knew that Cadwell and Thruxton were being added but up until now, an unidentified third track in England was also alluded to in the previous development update blog. Now we know that the third track will be Croft, which like Thruxton plays host to the British Touring Car Championship.

Then the last bit of news on the track front, Spa-Francorchamps getting its updated configuration including extended run-off at Radillion and La Source. In the blog post, the dev team are still 50/50 on whether it will arrive for 2024 Season 4 or if it will be pushed back to 2025 Season 1 in December. In any case, players who already own Spa will not have to pay extra to get the new version.

Future Additions

Not only all that, but more has been confirmed to be in development and there is plenty to get excited about. This week, the iRacing team are in Australia to scan The Bend Motorsport Park, which in its longest configuration trumps Spa-Francorchamps for lap distance. It hosts the likes of Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia, GT World Challenge Australia and formerly Asian Le Mans Series and Australian Supercars, the latter of which will return next year.

But that is perhaps the second most exciting prospect from down under, as iRacing in November will be heading to where else, but the Adelaide Street Circuit. The former Australian Grand Prix venue is coming to iRacing, most likely only in its shorter configuration that the Supercars race on. If they end up adding the longer layout that F1 and the American Le Mans Series raced, that would be great - but it is highly improbable, as it has not been used since 2000.

Speaking of Australian Supercars, the Gen 3 Mustang and newly-introduced Camaro just fell short of making it into the sim for 2024 Season 4 and are set to debut as early as December. Additionally, even more GT3 cars are in development, much to the delight of many people within the community of course. Some updates to the Legends cars regarding physics, engine specifications and tyres are on their way, and the Gen 4 NASCAR is also set to arrive as early as 2025 Season 1 as well as revisiting ARCA.

Finally on the track front, Huset's Speedway is under development on iRacing and will release soon to coincide with its debut in World of Outlaws: Dirt Racing 24. Circuit Ricardo Tormo is under contract, and it will most likely first be seen in this October's FIA Motorsport Games Esports F4 Cup competition which will take place on iRacing.

The dev team have stopped off at a lot of NASCAR tracks to bring all the track builds up to date, and finally the team allude to trying to get in touch with the organisers at the TT Circuit Assen, host of the Dutch MotoGP.

Last but not least, the next batch of rain-compatible cars as of next season. The latest bunch of cars that can be raced in the rain include all the TCR class cars (Audi RS3, Honda Civic Type R, Hyundai Elantra and Hyundai Veloster) as well as the Renault Clio R.S. V and Ford Mustang FR500S. This means a bunch of series like the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, Nürburgring Endurance Championship and the Production Car Challenge will all be able to race in wet conditions as of next season.

Real question, are new cars more advanced in terms of physics? It seems to me that they are not and iRacing has two separate teams - one for new content, second for gameplay & physics. I haven't bought any recent cars as I saw plenty of bad reviews. In RF2 for example new cars offer completely different, upgraded handling (like BTCC)

I am sure there might be some improvements in the ffb or physics of the latest cars compared to cars of the same class released 3 years ago but i think its very minor if anything.

hopefully they add a anticheat profile to make it work on linux again, it was working perfect for a few weeks.
