Gran Turismo 7's October Update Will Add 3 New Cars This Week

Kazunori Yamauchi has teased 3 new cars coming to Gran Turismo 7 this week.

It’s been over two months since Gran Turismo 7’s last content update, with update 1.49 adding six new cars, the return of the Eiger-Norwand circuit, and major physics changes. Since then, Polyphony Digital has stayed silent about future updates. With no update released in August or September, fans have wondered when the next Gran Turismo 7 update will arrive.

Thankfully, series creator Kazunori Yamauchi has broken the silence, teasing what fans can expect in Gran Turismo 7’s October update.

Three New Cars Coming to Gran Turismo 7 This Week

Last weekend saw Kanata Kawakami take victory for Lexus during Round 3 of the Gran Turismo World Series Manufacturers Cup in Tokyo. Before the event, Yamauchi revealed on X that Gran Turismo 7's next update is set to arrive next week with three new cars to race.

As usual, each car is shown as a silhouette, with Polyphony yet to confirm their identities. On the left, the car appears to be a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo judging from the bonnet vent, but the specific model is unclear. Currently, the Lancer Evo III, IV, IX, V, VI, and X generations are represented in Gran Turismo 7, so it could either be a VII, VIII, or IX model to fill the gaps. On X, fans speculate it could be a Mitsubishi Evo VIII MR.

The car alongside the Evo appears to be a Nissan GT-R, specifically the 2024 facelift model. This is the final R35-generation model, which has been in production since 2007. The model teased at the top is unknown, but the shape suggests it will be a van following the Toyota HiMedic introduced in update 1.36. A photo posted by a fan on X suggests it could be a Toyota Hiace, and the lined roof seems to match the model shown in the teaser.

Polyphony has yet to confirm these models, but we can probably expect a Japanese car-centric update in line with the Manufacturers Cup in Tokyo last weekend judging from the teaser.

Gran Turismo 7 October Update Release Date Prediction

Yamauchi confirmed that Gran Turismo 7’s October update (presumably update 1.51 after update 1.50 fixed the broken physics) will roll out this week, but a release date wasn't announced. However, given that updates usually arrive on Thursdays, we expect the Gran Turismo 7 October update to arrive on 3 October.

Nothing else is known yet, but we’re also expecting the usual raft of GT Café Menu Books, World Circuits events, and bug fixes alongside the three new cars. It will likely be a smaller update than July’s update, so we aren’t expecting any new tracks or gameplay changes.
