The (deep breath...) Toyota Gazoo Racing GT Cup’s 2024 schedule has been unveiled, culminating at an in-person LAN finale in December.

Open to anyone with a copy of Gran Turismo 7 on either PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5, the competition is partnered with the Japanese car manufacturer and was won last year in Barcelona by debutant Pol Urra.

This time there will be seven online (qualifier) rounds in-game, on set dates at set times, with the world’s 21 best drivers invited to the finale. This will be held at a location yet to be formally confirmed, alongside the World Finals of the adjacent Nations Cup and Manufacturers Cup competitions.

Speaking of the grand final, the vehicles and tracks in use are also unconfirmed, however, the rest of the season includes a Super Formula race, the expected GR Yaris round, GR86 vs BRZ, Le Mans in the Hypercar and even a tuned 2009 Toyota Prius event for a London rush hour vibe.

Matchmaking is based on your driver and safety ratings from the platform’s ranked Sport Mode in combination with a league system.

It’s The Taking Part That Counts

Points will be accumulated across the online rounds to determine the finalists, but those who don’t make the final reckoning will also receive prizes.

Specifically, up to nine million credits can be earned across the season, simply by taking part in the races and scoring solid (relative to your ranking) results.

There will be another bonus too – a GR010 Hypercar with the 2024-season livery, usually costing 3,000,000 credits, will be gifted to anyone who enters just a single online qualifier.
