Indie top-down racer GeneRally 2 enters May with a small update - including a drift car and track, alongside a few adjustments and fixes.
After seeing monthly updates in 2023, GeneRally 2 sees the first new patch since Christmas being deployed. Dubbed the "Cherry Blossom Update", it adds a small batch of new content. Players can look forward to the Drift car and CherryDrifter track - unsurprisingly, these focus on going sideways.
Meanwhile, the Track Editor - arguably the heart and soul of GeneRally 2 - also sees a few new objects being added. The namesake Cherry Blossom trees arrive in two colors, and snow variants of the Birch tree and Hedge allow for more seasonal vegetation to be planted. A few small changes and fixes are also included in the update - you can find the full changelog below.
However, online multiplayer is not part of the update to version 0.5.a5c81a6. Currently, racing is only possible versus AI vehicles. The online multiplayer mode is being worked on, however, and according to the roadmap on the GeneRally 2 website, the feature is almost three quarters along the way to being completed. Could it be part of the next update? Time will tell.
