Forza Motorsport Update 10: Fixes, New Cars & Events

Forza Motorsport Update 10 has launched with a number of new features ranging from a proximity radar to a monstrous list of new career events, spotlight cars and much more.

A very welcomed addition to this new update for Forza Motorsport is the debut of a proximity radar. It shares some similarities to other titles and more in-depth offerings like Le Mans Ultimate and Assetto Corsa Competizione. The proximity radar is detailed enough to help players avoid unintentional collisions and is a great step in the right direction for the Forza series in terms of cleaning up their online racing.

As well as the proximity radar, there is a host of updates to the replay cameras and HUD. Replays include a new vertical driver list to select the car on focus, a new track map, and HUD visibility options. A major Replay update is due to be debuted soon... adding dynamically updated race positions and data to the driver list, as well as a lap counter and new camera types.

Added the Big Country Lab Wing to the following cars:

The customization offerings in this new update are a bit disappointing, however. The addition is just a new wing for the list of cars above - nothing much to write home about.

Meanwhile, there is a huge host of new events; career, multiplayer and new discounts on cars. If you want to look at the new spotlight cars and multiplayer offerings, head over to the official Forza Support page.

Bug Fixes and Improvements (PC)

  • The VRAM Estimator in PC settings has been made much more accurate. Players should review their settings after Update 9 is downloaded to verify that they’re not using too much VRAM. This is particularly true for players with GPUs that have 4-8 GB of VRAM because some settings can push usage over the limit.
  • There is now an option to disable TAA completely on PC. This option is for players who prefer to use their own form of driver-level anti-aliasing. Find the new setting in the Display tab.
  • Fixed a bug allowing players on PCs with poor performance to gain a time advantage over other players [1803862].
  • An option to enable or disable Motion Blur in cockpit view has been added to the PC settings menu. [1723433]
  • Fixed an issue where the player is unable to reboot after changing their game settings using controller or keyboard. [1762936]

Alongside the short list of PC-related issues, the issue of varying shift time based on a PC's refresh rate has been fixed. In short, the update moved a piece of code called the 'shifting state machine' to an area of higher frequency, thus stabilizing the shifting times, regardless of your PC's refresh rate.

Another rather dry update... The additions and fixes are nice, but the content just isn't there.
This model of releasing "new" cars after you complete a month's worth of events just doesn't sit right and I'm sure we'll start seeing paid car packs when they get around recycling more tracks and fixing some bugs. The 963 Hypercar was surely testing the waters for paid content and Horizon 5 wasn't shy to start selling car packs shortly after the last expansion was released.

The only update I appreciated was TAA off. Between the blurry options of TAA, DLAA and the various results from DLSS, having no anti-aliasing is the best choice for me. I would rather have clear textures and jaggies over what's on offer in FM.
So, when I set out to maximize FPS, I started with low settings, turned TAA off and cranked the details to where my VRAM matched what I typically used, the game looks both better and worse. The worse is obviously the lack of an AA solution being applied, but the good is the visuals are clear.
Photomode is the biggest winner without TAA running. The game still applies some form of anti-aliasing when you take the shot but, that is no longer on top of the TAA/DLSS solution. I noticed more clarity on the few photos I took.

While I like the radar, it needs scaling and color options. I want my car to be bright, and the other cars to be darker. When it pops up on screen, my eyes go to one of the opponents cars, rather than my own.

The new wing... Yawn!

Other than that, this is a standard fare of an update. Nothing new.

When they fix the optimization bs that happens every time i start the game I'll be a lot happier. Every.. single.. time.. I have it thru game pass and I tried again last week just because I wanted to screw around and not be in a sim like iracing or acc/ac. Nope still doing the optimization bs that takes forever. Last week after almost 10mins and not even past 60% I closed the program and uninstalled it again. When/If they ever fix that, than I'll be back. And this is on a 990 PRO m.2 SSD

Pack your gear and go home Turn 10... You missed the boat on this failed game. Fire your producers and senior execs, and re-invent properly this time. Forza is simply a good still car image generator, not a simulator.

The game is compiling shaders at this point, and this should only happen when you change your graphics drivers or a game update is released.

Its crazy how a company like Turn10 with their resources were not able to beat the likes of ACC, AMS2 in terms of visuals or sound. I was prepared for the physics to be lukewarm at best, but i thought Forza would blow ACC and AMS2 out of the water visually, but texture quality and car models is really nothing to write home about. I have seen better texture quality on new tracks and cars in iRacing. Curbs are not even low details but also low effort in terms of geometry compared to the sims i listed. And what they call a career is just uninspired. Then i'd better have none and just drive custom singleplayer races i create myself. The only area where FM beat the sims is the amount of vehicles, thats it.

Tbh it just seems like Microsoft don't put money into these companies. They've hiked prices of gamepass by now £5 per month for the Game Pass Ultimate in the past year yet they aren't putting out quality games from their own production companies. Neither are they adding anything decent to the game pass unless you like the rubbish that is call of duty.
