Forza Motorsport December Update Adds Hockenheimring

The Forza Motorsport December Update closes out 2023 with a new circuit: The Hockenheimring is joining the track roster on December 12, bringing a few fixes to the game as well. One important bug still remains, however.

players are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Nürburgring-Nordschleife in Spring of 2024. Meanwhile, though, another classic German circuit joins the fray. The Hockenheimring is the 22nd location in the game, after Yas Marina had been added in November.

The track comes in its modern layout, of course, which has remained unchanged since 2002. Before that, cars would blast down mighty straights in the forest – a configuration many still miss to this day. In addition to the modern GP layout, the National and Short Circuits will also be available as of the Forza Motorsport December Update.

Forza Motorsport December Update: Bug Fixes​

The update also comes with several bug fixes, althogh one major annoyance many players face will remain for now. Initially, it was planned to have a fix for input layouts resetting to default when relaunching the game shipped with the update – this had to be postponed. The explanation on the Forza website reads: “While we intended to release this improvement as part of Update 3, we have realized that additional time to implement and test the fix is required.”

You can find the full list of fixes that did make it into the update below.

  • Fixed issue in which the Driver Level visually appeared to reset to Level 1 after downloading Update 2 and entering Test Drive in Free Play.
  • Rebalanced the impact on front and rear downforce when being drafted by another car.
  • Fixed issue which allowed players to sell their Builders Cup reward cars, preventing them from reobtaining the cars and completing their associated Reward Showcases.

PC-only Improvements​

  • Stability and performance are improved on lower spec PCs.
  • Fixed various random crashes in multiplayer races specifically on PCs with AMD GPUs.
  • Reduced the occurrence of a bug where the track or other objects becomes invisible while racing.

Forza Motorsport December Update: Featured Events​

The Forza Motorsport December Update also introduces four new Featured Tours. The first one starts on December 14, with the last one seeing the green light on January 4. All four Featured Tours focus on modern supercars or hypercars. Completing them all rewards players with the 2022 Pagani Huayra R.

For career mode, the British Marques Open Tour makes its debut. Meanwhile, Featured Multiplayer series include three race car-focused events. They will run for a week each, starting December 14.

Update 3 Drops December 12​

The Forza Motorsport December Update launches on December 12. The full release notes post also mentions the following update to come in mid-January. Hopefully, players then will no longer have to worry about their control layouts being reset automatically anymore.

For the competitive Forza racers, the update also prepares the game for round 2 of the Logitech McLaren G Challenge Time Trials. Stage #2 will be active until January 18. You can access it and try your hand at the competition via the Rivals Mode!

Reduced?! surely it should be a basic standard of any racing game that the track doesn't become invisible? lol

I'd really like to see what a proper sim racing development company could do with this engine...

Turn 10 just don't take simulation seriously enough to warrant the work done on the tyre model...

Overall though the game is what it is for a car collection game...
 
i still have it installed but only played like 3h, it needs a lot of work and more content.
i will keep it on the harddrive and check in with every monthly update until i will like what i see, feel and drive.
apparently these games are not meant to be good from the start, remember GTSport and 7? 1-2 years later they were significantly better games.

I play it here and there, unfortunately without big enthusiasm.

Are the added tracks somehow implemented into the career mode ??
Otherwise useless for me.

I already have more hours in FM than in AMS2. And while graphics and AI (especially) can still use some polishing, the driving feel and FFB are incredibly natural and intuitive.
Wish career was a bit more engaging though, not just hodge-podge of random championships. Quali in SP wouldn't hurt either.

I confirm, if you want to talk about AMS2, it's my worst experience, but it's not an example

I'd like to know how the stability and performance on lower spec PCs improved? What should someone like me who is trying to use a Ryzen 5 3600 and an RTX 3080 expect from the stability improvements?

I admit these are stupid questions but Turn 10 hasn't been very clear on what they mean with low specs.

You should not have issues with RTX 3080, unless CPU is holding you back.
I bench around ~75fps with all Ultra and DLAA on G9 5120x1440 with 3080Ti.

Yup. CPU is the problem. The Ryzen 5 3600 can't handle most Ray Tracing applications, regardless of if the GPU can handle it. It also doesn't do well with Nvidia's AI anti-aliasing. I get more stability and a better picture with DLSS off and the resolution scale set to 150%.

If I turn DLSS on, the FPS fluctuates wildly and I still get alising and I can see DLSS failing to keep up with the graphics on screen. If I turn Ray Tracing on (even low) my FPS tops out at 45 FPS on low, 30 FPS on medium and up. My issue is clearly the 3600.

Plus, there's the whole 3600's climbing failure rates from pushing it too hard. I need this CPU to last, so I can use it to update my X570's BIOS. Then after that, I'm good.

RatyTracing is on GPU and I just turn it off, it's not worth it, in fact I get not only better fps but also better (sharper) image quality with it off. Same with CP2077, can play it native res all Ultra with just RTX off and don't feel like I miss anything.
I use DLAA myself, latest DLSS dll with preset C (dlsstweaks) and little in driver sharpening. The other trick is to make sure that resolution is set to "Native Window Resolution", there is an option in resolution drop down named like that. With that it doesn't switch between DLSS and FSR.

I have read some people with R7 5800x's getting RT, 4K @ 60FPS with 3070s or RX6800XTs. I am running triples and trying to get the screens to run as smooth as possible at 1080p, I should have no problems with some RT... But my CPU isn't up to the task.

Don't know really, RayTracing is handled by NVidia RT Cores, so unless there is an additional activity from game engine requiring CPU involvement preparing data for raytracing, it all should be on NVidia hardware side.
But looking forward to your findings, you can tell if this is CPU or GPU by looking at bench results break down, it shows what bottlenecks.
