With Corsair's acquisition of Endor AG and its sim racing brand Fanatec official, questions about the German HQ and employees remained. A new press release clarifies that the core business will indeed stay in Landshut.

After months of ups and downs, it has become official that Corsair would acquire Endor AG and its sim racing brand Fanatec, with Endor set for liquidation. A set of new press releases confirm that Corsair will also take over the Fanatec sim racing line - which was a given - as part of the Endor acquisition. However, a few more open questions now also have answers.

First and foremost, the current HQ based in Landshut, Germany, will remain the center of operations. "We intend to maintain the core business in Landshut while expanding its position as a world-class product development center for Sim Racing products", states Corsair CEO Andy Paul. As part of this, Corsair also commits to "the existing employess at Endor who manage and operate the Fanatec product line", according to the Endor release.

Paul continues in Corsair's release: "We have been a fan of the Fanatec brand for years, and I am thrilled that we were finally chosen to be the next home for Fanatec products. We intend to use our extensive supply chain and logistics network to reduce operating costs, enhance users' customer service experience, increase sales opportunities, and help the business return to profitability."

The releases also confirm that Fanatec as a brand is not going to go away, which would be similar to how Corsair handled Elgato. The brand is known for its audiovisual equipment and gear that helps video producers and streamers, and was acquired by Corsair in 2018. The brand has remained in place, and Corsair built upon it.

Warranty & Updates Will Continue

This looks to be the intention for Fanatec as well. The Endor release states that "Corsair plans to make significant investments in the Fanatec brand, its products, and increasing worldwide availability through our channels. All current and future Fanatec customers will benefit from the world-class support from Corsair, including warranty and software updates going forward".

For sim racers already invested in the Fanatec ecosystem, the latter two points should be a relief. Previously, questions about how warranty claims would be handled, as well as concerns regarding future software updates were voiced within the community.

Looking forward to seeing if and when Fanatec gets away from online only sales. Its going to be interesting to see what is available from where.

I assume before they expand places to purchase, Fanatec has to tighten up on quality. Can't have a bunch of CSL-DD wheelbases being returned because of loose soldering on the accessory jacks, or cracked plastic QR2 collars... Or even plastic QR2 shafts in the first place. So, I am interested in seeing where this goes.

Surprised but happy to hear the news about warranties being honoured. (Small print may sour that, but hopefully not.)
I now hope that they can turn around the issues (e.g. customer service, quality control) and restore the brand reputation.

the clusport DD+ is the best base from Fanatec, behind the DD2, nice job, but I dont trust Fanatec enough to switch from simucube to fanatec

I bought a CSL-DD w boost kit with the Porsche wheel and Podium button module endurance combo, Clubsport V3 pedals, Clubsport Shifter and an extra NASCAR wheel for stock car stuff, all just a few months before all of the issues with delayed orders, customer service and quality control started really becoming a big thing lol.

I was fortunate to receive my order relatively quickly and have been super happy with the products, upgrading from an ancient Logitech G25 which served me well, it's such a massive upgrade in feel and feedback. I know there are many people who haven't had the same experience with Fanatec and don't have a positive opinion of the company (rightfully so) so hopefully Corsair can help turn things around. It's great news that warranties should hopefully be honored and customer service will be improving should I ever need to use it

You just need to look back to the history on this.

EagleTree Capital, formerly Wasserstein Partners, is a leading independent private equity and investment firm, focused primarily on leveraged buyout investments and related investment activities.

In 2017 the above private equity firm took control of Corsair.

What a leveraged buyout means is that they took a loan for most of the half billion they put into Corsair and then dropped that debt load on Corsair. So from that point on Corsair needed to be profitable and past that be able to afford to service that loan.

It looks very much like they worked their way into Fanatec and forced their control over the company.

Frequently a private equity firm taking over a business is a death knell for that company, or leads them to cutting corners, layoffs, and otherwise going in a negative direction.

I have experienced this first hand. I worked for a highly profitable engineering firm that owned their building, had a war chest in the bank and were buying up similar businesses to expand in size. A larger company than us decided that they were interesting in buying us out. They had complementary technologies and it all looked good on paper, but they were just trying to spend their cash on had and increase the overall valuation of their company to avoid a hostile takeover by a private equity firm. Unfortunately the private equity firm secured a loan for the additional cost of the now larger company. They immediately liquidate all assets, sold our building requiring we pay rent, started immediate layoffs and then of course we had to be profitable enough for our added expenses and to make payments on the loan.

I'm just saying that Fanatec may be on borrowed time and everything they will be doing will be to cut corners or inflate prices.

A case and point is this recent joke that Corsair unloaded on people.

I may never buy another Corsair product again.
