Just after the real-life Formula One season has finished, F1 24 has been blessed with one final release before the end of 2024.

F1 24 has had an eventful year, with player numbers varying dramatically and some underwhelming content being released. Still, despite that, the team behind the game at EA and Codemasters continue to update the title with AI changes and updated liveries as 2024 ends.

With the future of the Formula One titles under the EA Sports banner hanging in the balance, a strong finish to 2024 and an even stronger start to 2025 is essential. Significant issues with the photo mode appear to have been skipped over. Not only has the photo mode been forgotten, but the problems with the Safety Car staying out for an entire session have also not been addressed, at least not publicly in the patch notes.

This update introduces the second part of season 4 within F1 24, with two new race scenarios and a brand-new challenge career mode option. The new scenarios are interesting and engaging to try and chase, but is it enough to satisfy regular players? Let us know what you think in the comments below.

The AI changes are a simple tweak to the 101=110 AI range. The intention is to give experienced players a harder time in single-player, but time will tell if these changes will require further adjustment.

New Race Scenarios

  • Race Scenario: 2022 Belgian Grand Prix - From December 10
  • Race Scenario: 2014 Bahrain Grand Prix - From December 10
  • Challenge Career: Episode #4 (Belgium, Italy, Azerbaijan) - From December 11

Graphics/Visuals

  • Updated sponsors on the Williams, Haas, and McLaren cars.
The Williams car now features Globant and Mercado Libre logos, the Haas car has been updated to add Toyota Gazoo Racing and Orion 180 branding, and the Darktrace logos on the McLaren have been recoloured.

  • Fixed an issue which in some instances caused graphical issues for people with certain Anti-Aliasing options and Dynamic Resolution Enabled (PC Only)
  • Added support for XeSS 2, which will be enabled on supporting hardware with an upcoming driver update from Intel (PC Only)
When using compatible hardware, F1® 24 will support higher frame rates and smoother gameplay using XeSS Frame Generation (XeSS-FG) through AI-based frame interpolation. When paired with Xe Low Latency (XeLL), this reduces input delay for a more immersive experience.
  • The visual quality of Ray Traced reflections on the interior of the cockpit has been improved (PS5® Pro Only)
  • Fixed an issue which applied too much engine heat haze when spectating an AI during a replay
  • Added a couple of additional updates to the Las Vegas environment

Miscellaneous

  • Added the Player Hub option to the Main Menu
  • AI Difficulty between 101-110 has been increased to give experienced players a harder challenge and
    Various UI Improvements

Following feedback from the community, an adjustment has been made to add an extra challenge for those playing at the highest difficulty levels. This change results in around a one tenth decrease in lap time for those competing against 110 AI compared to pre-patch performance. This difference varies slightly depending on the circuit you are racing on.

For F1 24 v1.16, there is not much to be too excited about outside of the AI improvements. The playerbase appears frustrated across multiple platforms with all the updates that the developers have brought to the table, including changes and fixes being implemented that are not fixing significant issues within the title that are stopping players from enjoying the Formula One experience.

The v1.16 patch for F1® 24 will begin rolling out on all platforms at 10 a.m. UTC on December 9, so make sure your PC or console is connected and ready to go so that you do not have a pending update waiting for you when you want to quickly jump into a session.

Didn't they add Colapinto to the grid yet?
I though it could be part of an update.
And there is even another driver to add if we count the last race of the year.

Really? At Vegas I was racing against 80% AI (albeit in a Merc which the game wouldn't have known fared so well that round IRL) and I was doing the same times as pole in the race and I came 2nd in a 50% race by just 3 seconds due to a 5 sec penalty I had.

I tried again at Aby Dhabi (25% race at 80 difficulty) and I got spanked - didn't get into Q3 (but due to errors) and only got up to around 7th from starting around 14th.

To me, anything beyond 80% in game is beyond 100% IRL. I know I'm losing a bit of time coming out of corners due to a slightly weird throttle deadzone issue, but the times still don't add up. I guess they want to cover league alien pros, but it's so disheartening to be up to standard of 100% but be told that you're significantly less. It's better in '24 than it was in '23, but still.

F1 series used to be just great. But something is missing for me. Last F1 23 was not very fun to play, and I think that is because career mode is getting way too much repetitive.

The F1 24 lacks audio quality so much. C'mon we're in 2024, tons of modders doing such a great work with Assetto Corsa, and a massive studio like Codemasters and EA delivers a poor audio design for the cars.

Car sounds plays a big role in racing games, it delivers excitement, atmosphere, pleasure, dept, and so on. When you play F1 24, it is impossible for me to enjoy driving with so much poor engine sounds.

And what about career mode? I've never understand how you can start the career with top tier teams right at the start, yeah I know that some drivers were able to do that like Hamilton for example, but c'mon, career mode needs to be challenging at start, what's the point if you can win the WDC at the very first year?

I'm not hating the game, just talking about how a feel about it.
