F1 24 Release Date Announced, 2024 Liveries in F1 23

It appears that the information of a recent leak regarding the F1 24 announcement was correct – sort of. After quietly adding the title to their website, EA has announced the release date and pre-order bonuses.

Earlier in the month, X user billbil-kun revealed that EA Sports will most likely make its F1 24 announcement on February 27. Reportedly, the game would launch on May 31 this year, making it the earliest release of the Codemasters/EA Sports era that begun with F1 2009. Once again, they were on the money.

Not only have the release dates of May 28 (pre-order) and May 31 (regular) have been confirmed, but also the systems the F1 24 is set to arrive on. In addition to PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, the game will also launch on the previous-gen systems PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

F1 24 had quietly been added to EA.com – at first, it simply stated “coming in 2024”, but that was later expanded to a semi-reveal including teasers for a few elements of the upcoming title. It also confirmed the previously leaked placeholder cover. A more detailed announcement of F1 24 and its features will follow in April.

Meanwhile, pre-orders for the game are already possible. Returning players can look forward to a 15% discount when pre-ordering the Champions Edition until April 24, which is going to apply to anyone who owns F1 2021, F1 22 or F1 23.

Furthermore, 18.000 PitCoin, an F1 World Bumper Pack and three days of Early Access are part of the Champions Edition pre-order bonuses. The Standard Edition pre-order comes with 5.000 PitCoin and an F1 World Starter Pack. Both feature a VIP Podium Pass.

Finally, players can kick off the 2024 season early with select liveries to use in Time Trial mode. While the McLaren design had already been announced to feature, fans of Williams, Alpine and Haas can also look forward to their teams’ paintjobs. Furthermore, esports liveries of McLaren and Alpine will also be included. Another batch of 2024 liveries is set to arrive after April 24.


Meanwhile, two hints at new features are also part of the announcement. Players can look forward to the new Driver Career Mode “with new gameplay rooted in the sport“, as well as EA Sports Dynamic Handling, which “gives you more control over how your personal driving style impacts your car’s performance and race strategy.”

What exactly this entails, though, remains to be seen. With the full reveal of F1 24 coming in April, we will likely learn about everything new in the game then.

Which it will there's no way in 8 or 9 months they've managed to move it to unreal engine and make it work well. The fact it's still being released on ps4 and xbox one tells you that it will be ego engine aswell

Why are some people so much after changing the engine? EGO is so well optimized with advanced graphics and in current state it's much, much more well-suited for racing simcades. Switching to something else will require a ground rewrite probably, yes, but do you think that will on its own turn the game into something better? If it happens, most likely they will just copy paste physics from their previous games. It will look similar, but possibly with more CPU stutters and different shaders (which btw won't be that more amazing since UE doesn't handle racing games so well).

This is not a game engine issue, but management issue. As long as EA will want yearly releases don't expect this game to improve. UE5 won't magically change this. Look what happened to WRC release. Pretty sure F1 is way too much of a stable income for Codemasters to skip a year and rewrite the game from the bottom.
 
How about finally adding proper new features to the My Team mode ? How about we finally get a crew chief that does not just say "A new strategy is available on the MFD" but would instead actually SPEAK the strategy. How about adding the option of using team orders in My Team mode ? How about re-adding and improving post-race driver interviews ? Why aren't there more dramatic random AI driver incidents with dramatic wrecks instead of just mechanical failures taking out the AI ? How about finally improving the cockpit view and let us move the camera forward more than just 5 centimeters where it still feels like i am sitting behind the driver seat ?? So many things would need to be added or improved to make a new F1 worth while.
 
At last, it would be great to see tire wear.
We could see that in different mods when it was possible to create it in earlier F1 games...

VR was broken in the last 2 versions ( way to shaky image) and EA has done nothing about it.

I have bought every F1 game until now, but will surely pass on this money grab

Didn’t buy it last one won’t be buying this one. It doesn’t have all the tracks but AMS2 with F1 2024 mod is much more fun in VR. I’d say it’s the best F1 game.

With a good imagination you can do a career by running through each F1 gen. A mod that linked each generation together as a career would be magnificent!

I've never understood this.

LMU gets released broke, incomplete, buggy and it has Mostly Positive reviews. AMS2 is still an incomplete game. rF2 has been broken for 10 years. AC has the worst AI in sim racing. And everyone argues about which one of these is the best evaaaaa.

Meanwhile, F1 is released as a complete game, a complete experience, and people crap on it every year. Oh ... the physics isn't realistic enough? At this point, who cares with a sim racing genre full of incomplete games, broken promises, and claims of "best physics evaaa" for every physics update that happens every year for some of these games.

I mean, its probably the only racing game that has actual pit strategies and on top of that ... its DONE FOR YOU. Hell, this is groundbreaking for a racing sim in 2024 and they have been doing it for over a decade. This kind of thing should be STANDARD in all games by now.

That being said, I will never buy it because of the EA Launcher which has kept me from playing Madden on multiple occasions and also needs to phone home all the time and won't let you start if there is an update available but you can't download it for whatever reason (like being on a train with no internet access, etc...)

I'd rather they follow the example of release something not great and make it good over a few years, in stead of meh each year.

I also expect something different from a larger studio with more money behind it, complete license and double the purchase price. AMS2 was €25, LMU €30, F124 €70....
 
I bought the game last year and played it for a total of at most 2 hours. This has been the case for at least the last 4 years. You would think I would learn. I guess I am always victim of the hype and influencers. I’m hoping this year I have the strength and maybe Le Man‘s ultimate is a big enough distraction to prevent me from wasting my money.

The problem is, it is not.

The multiplayer mode is one of the worst, most unstable, ridiculous things I've seen in any racing game and that includes Forza Horizon 4 at its premiere. This has been a problem since years and there was never anything done about it. People were reporting unbalanced cars that were supposed to be equal, game-breaking bugs, lack of staiblity for YEARS and there was nothing improved that wasn't broken by another bug that crawled out after a quick hotfix. The P2P online system without dedidacted servers is awfully unstable and keeps desynchronizing players. Handling model is alright for a simcade and least of a problem, but if you wanted to try organizing something bigger like a racing league, you'd have to write entire pages of regulations because of ridiculous issues that could've been resolved by few well-thought out updates that just took some more time.

Single-player experience is a bit more stable but also not without sins. At F1 23 premiere, there was mulitple reports about losing save files and few other annoying things that somehow keep showing up at a premiere each year.

In the end this game is stable for what it can make the most of, which is single-player careers and youtube content around it. Meanwhile, this practice just keeps on killing the e-sport fanbase which almost completely faded out from the F1 series due to lack of support.

I personally wouldn't go so far as to say VR is broken (in F123). Yeah it's wonky and doesn't do 6DOF movement as well as other VR titles, so much as to occasionally cause inconsistencies of perception / feeling by being a little out of sync placement-wise, but when racing I don't recall noticing or being distracted by this.

I do hope they fix it to be as it should in F124 though, along with those stupid raindrops on the visor not reacting to physics and completely ruining immersion to the extent of now only racing in the dry. Such a glaring flaw for something that literally goes across your whole face.

It'll still be a deep-sale item as always though as I never play it much and just like to have it for the very infrequent whim.

Exactly what I was thinking. I will also only buy this if VR is finally fixed properly.
