F1 23: Williams Racing's Anniversary Livery Now Available

Williams Racing 800 Formula 1 Grand Prix Livery.jpg
The British Grand Prix weekend was a very special Formula One race for Williams Racing: The legendary team celebrated its 800th Grand Prix at Silverstone, which included a special one-off livery that fans can now race in F1 23 themselves.

The usual mix of black and dark blue on the Williams cars gets white accents for the British Grand Prix, including a Union Jack on the engine cover - for what is actually Williams' 799th F1 race: Due to the cancellation of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in Imola due to the flooding of the region earlier this year, the actual anniversary has been pushed back by a race, so start number 800 will occur at the Hungarian Grand Prix on July 23rd.

Nevertheless, Williams decided to stick to the plancs for a celebration of their history on home turf - and F1 23 players can obtain the special livery by simply logging into the game from July 10th to 23rd. They will then be able to claim the livery via the in-game mail system to use in My Team and F1 World.

Since 1977, the team founded by Frank Williams took nine Constructors' Championship and seven Drivers' Championship titles in Formula One, the most recent in both classifications in 1997 when Jacques Villeneuve secured his only F1 crown. Since then, Williams may have declined to its current backmarker role, but Grove-based team is one of the sports' icons without a doubt.

Williams is not the only team celebrating its heritage at Silverstone, however: In a nod to their 2006 to 2014 cars, old rivals McLaren adopted a special chrome livery to celebrate their 60-year anniversary, with Lando Norris even sporting a chrome helmet for the occasion. It is not yet known whether or not the livery will make its way to F1 23 as well.

Why does racedepartment says nothing about the tire bug in the F1 series?

Do they pay too much to you?

As much as I like the livery to be in game, as much I dislike CM for being lazy once again.
So, the player can race with the livery, but Williams cannot. Because CM creates those special liveries only on the free editable FOM chassis.
Changing the UV mapping of the F1 team chassis? Nah, not happening, too much work - it's not like many people would love to have the RB Miami, McLaren Triple Crown, Williams Ann. liveries where they belong in the grid.

But, hey, we can do a fomswap - wait, only modders can. But I guess this is now EA for you: MP counts, SP got a story mode - FIFAish, deal with it.

I agree with all that you said, but I'm still happy that we get these official liveries and helmets even if it's just for the FOM chassis. Surely EA and CM could do more but yeah, FIFAish as you said.
