Exocross Releases "Story" Trailer Ahead Of July Debut


Exocross, iRacing's space-themed racing title, is due to release on July 23rd. Just before release, a new trailer has dropped detailing some story around the lore of Exocross.

Exocross
is a futuristic off-road racing game that has actually been in early access on Steam since 2020 under the name, DRAG Outer Zones. But with the release date of July 23rd approaching rapidly, the team behind Exocross have released a more story-based trailer to assist in building up the story of Exocross.

Some say that racing just hasn't been the same for a while now. We cleaned up the planet and built a healthier and more sustainable society, all great things but those of us who love racing, well, we lost touch with its Spirit when personal Transportation devices went away.

Sim racing was all we had left, cars and tracks didn't connect with us like they used to. That's when someone had the bright idea to send unmanned cars to space. It sounded crazy, but what good idea hasn't at first and that's how we ended up finding Proteus, the planet that
became a racing playground.

It wasn't long after we got to Proteus that we got some cars and tracks up and working and Exocross was born. Soon, a new generation of stars emerged. They found their fame on the backs of the wildest racing imaginable.

Once you've experienced Exocross, there's no turning back...


The story trailer doesn't show us anything new regarding gameplay, new cars or features. It is more of a setup for the release of the title. It's only just over a minute long, but the stage is set for Exocross to make its mark on the console world especially.

its fun with a controller, super lousy with a wheel in its current form, hopefully iRacing team brought some fixes to that.
dashcam on triples is spectacular, the sensation of speed and sliding, even in its current drag release status.

PINCH OF SALT POST - the release in two days may completely change the FFB, so this is for current version.

It has pretty decent FFB , but, VERY well hidden under a TONNE of in game damping, presumably to make it more playable for the button mashers, i figured it out by mistake when turning off stability control.. which i think worked by adding even more damping to stop you over correcting presumably.. it was like a big lead blanket got removed from the wheel and starts revealing a whole world of feedback that was obliterated before.

Anyhow when fired up on default settings this is like driving a tractor with a wheel.. once you dial back the games own settings and rather tweak in your driver its actually quite good, can feel and catch slides for example

First big change, turn off the ingame "stability control"
Turn DOWN "Vibration Intesity" to 1
(even moving from 1 to 2 adds back an insane amount of damping again)


For my DD1 I use these settings , note the strength cranked up here instead, only 10% damper and then FEI to taste for "feel", i also dialled back the ffb filtering, add a heap of brake to stop it locking up and spnning out all the time

Do we know anything about VR? Should be huge fun.
 
hmmm, don't see it in the steam store to even wishlist.

EDIT: Scratch that. I'm just old and half blind obviously. Its there... seems a tad pricey though,

This game reminds me so much of 1998's Powerslide by Ratbag Games, which btw, is still playable/buyable on Steam.
 
i updated today, from Drag to Exocross, and my wheel settings were sticky, everything remained mapped as it was, but I no longer see an option in the menus for wheel setup anymore, only gamepad... so you cannot adjust wheel limit and turn limit degrees etc.. so might be im lucky I had it setup before it changed names, perhaps there is a manual INI setup file somewhere for those that didnt.. the "feel" however from my post above remains the same, heaps of damping still remains , I feel like the little bit of wheel support was there before was dumped to drive this to arcade button mashing.

This game reminds me so much of 1998's Powerslide by Ratbag Games, which btw, is still playable/buyable on Steam.
I've got the GOG version, But its stuck either in a low res mode or software rendering, so while it was good for a 10 minute nostalgia kick I didn't keep it installed. It was better on hardware of the era.
 
downloading as I write, looking forward to giving it a go tonight. Steam page has now changed completely to ExoCross design.
 
I tried the original demo ages ago and whilst the concept seemed good, the handling with my wheel was awful. Had hoped this new rendition would improve the title. Its a bit pricey but put it on my wishlist anyway... Well, I think I'll remove it from my wishlist given the above comments and latest steam reviews. I seem to be removing more often from my wishlist than converting to purchase these days.
