The first instalment was lacking in many areas, so I'll definitely wait for some reliable reviews before giving this one a shot.

Also, is it just me or do the cars look comically small compared to the environments in the trailer???

I can just agree with @Matthew327 here.
At the same time, I might not get a reliable review before I do one myself, catch 22 in play!

I want the game to be fun, I want it to be challenging. I woulld like some random generated stages for online so one can't memorize it. Then add a proper online mode. Then I want RDDakar. Hah!

The first was ok but pretty dull at some points. Hopefully the second one is going to be a better game. I will check it out!

I don't think it will be more fun than Forza Horizon 5 with friends.....

The landscape is very impressive in real life with huge rock formations (based on the real Dakar footage). However, in some of the scenes, the Hilux does seem quite like something from Micro Machines.

I hope the game will be more complete & complex than the original, with good physics, graphics and a more polished vehicle recovery/towing aspect.

I, for one, am quite excited about this title. I thoroughly enjoyed the first one for what it was when I picked it up on sale. I was pretty much only interested in the trucks so I wasn´t disappointed by the physics model, since they handle OK, unlike the bikes and quads. I wasn´t t expecting a sim, but rather an immersive licensed experience, which I mostly got. The huge potential was clearly visible, so let´s hope they make good on it and also move it more towards the simulation end of the spectrum.

"This open world rally game will simulate..." I indeed hope it will be an open word, with countless possibilities to go from start to the end. Graphics looks awesome as well. There is no word about the physics... I also hope it will be on a simulation side. I wish all written will come true, just snow, in Arabia??

Worthless since there are no plans for VR support. If it had VR then there's a big chance that I will buy the title because the content looks interesting(but then it still depends on how good it drives of course).

Didn't mean anything but woah, every new games really need to have VR to met the standard now?
Anyway really hope this title will be a good racing game or maybe a decent sim

Not sure if I'll buy this. Regardless, I like seeing an unusual style of game in the racing video game landscape! This may lack in one or many areas, but it sure ain't F1 or GT3s at Spa

And even if the physics are a touch naff, if the game does a good job simulating the unique features of Dakar (e.g. open world, navigation, getting lost, getting stuck, losing to Carlos Sainz Sr.) it still might offer a neat experience I'd like to pick up. Taking a wait and see approach, as usual.

No every racing title not every new game. Once you go VR in racing, you cannot go back. That's not the case for everyone but it's the case for most people and definitely for me. It's very stupid to release an pc racing title in 2022 without VR support.

I would not use the word "stupid" while seeing all the new features the new title offers, compared to the previous one. There's a lot of ambition there. If the physics are solid (even a bit arcadey like Gravel), the game will achieve something never done before.

About VR, in the case of Dakar, most of the gameplays on the net are in third person view, to have a better view of the landscape, which is not what VR is aimed to. I personnally stick to the first person view and would like VR. But that is a lot of work for a few users. And this would suppose to find a solution for the navigation, implementing something more readable in VR, maybe just by lowering the general landscapes details , which are one of the main features of the game.

Not sure at all that implementing VR worth the investment

Dakar Desert Rally: Patch v1.4​

Saber Games has released the new patch for Dakar Desert Rally via Steam. This patch, which brings the game to release 1.4, addresses a number of issues with steering wheel support, force feedback support, AI behavior, handling on motorcycles and quads, and much more. The first free DLC has also been added, the extended map of Saudi Arabia, which adds the full simulation events of Dakar Rally 2020, Dakar Rally 2021 and Dakar Rally 2022.
