Corsair Acquires Endor & Fanatec

After months of dramatic developments, it is now official: US hardware giant Corsair acquires Endor AG and its Fanatec brand.

What started with the dismissal of Endor/Fanatec Founder Thomas Jackermeier as the company's CEO and continued as an explosive series of events now culminates in an official acquisition: Corsair, who first acted as strategic investor and later stated that they were still interested in Endor after the StaRug proceedings fell through, purchases Endor AG as part of an asset deal.

That means that Fanatec, one of the most popular brands of sim racing hardware, is now entirely in the hands of the US-based hardware and gaming peripheral giant. In doing so, the company also takes over all active employment contracts of Endor's, according to the official statement - a relief for current Endor/Fanatec employees for now.

Full Liquidation Of Endor

With the acquisition of Endor, "the shares in the foreign subsidiaries will also be transferred", and Endor AG will be "fully liquidated as part of the insolvency proceedings." That, in turn, means that Endor will cease to be listed on the stock exchange as well - but interestingly, the statement also mentions that "shareholders should expect not to receive any payments". Meanwhile, "the company's real estate remains up for sale".

Most recently, an Extraordinary General Meeting had been planned, initiated by Jackermeier and his Bamboo Investment GmbH, with the main purpose of withdrawing confidence from the Management Board. The meeting was allowed to go ahead by the Local Court of Landshut initially, but was "postponed" in late August.

Corsair's acquisition of Endor/Fanatec marks the end of one of the hottest topics in sim racing in 2024 - at least for now. To catch up with the entire story, check out our video on the saga surrounding Fanatec/Endor and Corsair below - or click here to read our article on this topic.

Corsair had recently shown its first sim racing product, a highly-adjustable rig, at gamescom 2024. The company already owned several of Endor's IP since late May as collateral against payments it made to try and stabilize Endor, and in Cologne, all Corsair rigs were equipped with Fanatec gear, and the Corsair booth displayed several Fanatec products as well.

The best news Fanatec owners could get. There's still a long way to go, but hopefully this means that we get some stability and more great products from them. I was almost ready to switch to Moza, but am now happy that I didn't. Fanatec (for me) is the only brand that gives me the customizability I need from sim racing hardware.
It also means that the employees, which have nothing to do with how the company has been run up until now, finally don't have to fear for their jobs anymore.
I am relieved that the brand stays and hope that we get some exciting products in the future.

One thing that's not been specifically mentioned is how this affects existing warranties. Or at least not that I've seen, so I may have missed it.

The fact that as part of the acquisition process Endor AG will be fully liquidated, and that shareholders should not expect any payment, implies that the company who is obligated to provide warranty for existing kit will cease to exist.

However the fact that Corsair have stated they are taking on the business operations and employment contracts of Endor implies that they have also taken over responsibility for any existing warranties.

Corsair do have a good track record with their acquisitions, so my bet would be that all warranties can be considered as valid, but some official clarification would go a long way to ease the minds of existing Fanatec customers.

I'm very happy to read this great news. Obviously Fanatec have been through a very rough patch and haven't provided a good service to some customers this year, but they've already corrected most of their operational issues and their quality products still rightly hold an important space in the market.

If you like Moza or Simagic then good on you, but I'm very happy with my DD Pro & Elite V2 setup and with this reassuring update I plan to remain faithful to their ecosystem with future upgrades.

LOL Corsair, the most expensive gaming company of the planet. They will sure find many ways to milk simracers.

Things can only get better. Even if Fanatec's core offerings remain the same, if Corsair can bring better support, logistics and responsiveness then it's a win for consumers. I would fully expect to see development of new components and accessories to accelerate under the new ownership...Fanatec's rims, pedals and other offerings have been largely stagnant for a long while.

Hopefully things improve for Fanatec. They have been notoriously slow when it came to making new products. And about those products, perhaps they can finally improve shortcomings on their existing products. If they want to continue charging high prices, then their gear needs to be high quality in response. As things are now, I can't see spending $400 for a Podium Classic wheel, with the steering wheels mallability, and the over priced QR2. Hopfully this changes for the better, in one way or another.

I am glad to know that that I still have the choice to keep upgrading with Fanatec, if I decide to.

From the position of someone standing at the brink of jumping into DD, could you summarize in one sentence what makes Fanatec stand out in a pond with quite a few fish?
