As Formula One packs up to leave Sin City, Max Verstappen leaves the USA as the 2024 World Champion. It was a year when the Dutchman did not always have the best car and used every trick in the book to get ahead of his main rival, Lando Norris. Let's look back at what our community thought of the weekend.

Podium Predictions

With the Las Vegas Grand Prix being the second round of the podium prediction game, the battle at the top of the table is even tighter. Last week's joint winner, Pete Conway, and new participants @anthony Snook and @[X90] are all sitting on 10 points, while a pitiful performance from the OverTake team, @Connor Minniss and @Rene / GRunner, brought them home 0 points.

Max Verstappen Claims Fourth Word Drivers Championship

Despite a quiet race for the now four-time world champion, Max Verstappen crossed the line ahead of Lando Norris to make the Dutchman champion in 2024. A hard-fought year, only topped by his challenging 2021 campaign. Verstappen did not always have the best car, but he has wrapped up the championship with two races to go.

Max Verstappen, 4-time World Drivers Champion

With Red Bull having a much more difficult mid-season stint compared to their closest rivals in McLaren and Ferrari, the team from Milton Keynes will be looking to come out of the blocks in 2025 as they did this year, with dominance and, more importantly, with Verstappen at the top of his game.

Close Racing Continues

The very small driver gap was an apparent factor, especially in qualifying. Just 0.750 seconds separated Nico Hülkenberg, in 9th, from George Russell's pole lap. The field was competitive over one lap, and that thankfully carried over into the race on Sunday.

"Great, just great to have so many cars and drivers fighting for the pole, just in a few tenths, awesome." - Kimirai

Close racing and chaos in Las Vegas

Battles were scattered up and down the field throughout the race distance. The Ferraris traded places throughout the Grand Prix, but the overall action level was lacking compared to the highlight of the season last time out in Brazil.

With Charles Leclerc's outburst on the radio and general lack of pace, Sainz had the upper hand on his Monegasque teammate, putting his scarlet car on the bottom step of the podium behind the two Silver Arrows. However, despite another different podium, some community members did not hesitate to express their opinions about the Las Vegas Grand Prix as an event and a race circuit.

Horrible race due to the track. We had the 4 teams somewhat within range of each other, and there was nothing interesting at all No real fights, no strategical dilemas to be taken, everything fell in place with no resistance whatsoever.

Not a single turn has personality, no elevation changes, flat atmosphere (The Brazilians last race showed how it's done, even under torrential rain)

If we at least got rid of DRS, some of the battles and strategies would have been meaningful. Max on a rainy Interlagos last week showed what F1 was supposed to be, or at least give the potential to be (not every race has to be so extraordinary), but this one would NEVER be extraordinary no matter what happened, even the 2010, 2012 and 2021 finals would be boring here. - rup.car

Sergio Perez, Las Vegas 2024

The long DRS straight was the primary location for overtaking in the Grand Prix. However, drivers such as Red Bull's Sergio Perez managed to pull off some fantastic moves through the tight, twisting corners of the Las Vegas street circuit. The Mexican managed to overtake the battling Haas of Kevin Magnussen and the glitter-bombed Liam Lawson to move up the order from the pitiful qualifying result of 15th the Red Bull driver managed on Saturday.

Looking Ahead To Qatar

With Vegas in the rear-view mirror, Formula One heads to Lusail in Qatar for the penultimate round of the World Championship. In the short time the event has been on the calendar, Lusail has failed to produce any classic memorable races - yet.

The Constructor's championship is still up for grabs, with Ferrari and Red Bull both pushing current leaders, McLaren, very hard. A strong finish for all three teams and their respective drivers is a necessity.

and ferrari will get the WCC for the first time since 2008 and if this happen everyone will be Super Happy cause we didnt get anything since 2008
I think Mclaren deserve it this year, if you look back to the several past decades of disappointment for them, and how well they've done this year, they deserve SOME good news.

Mclaren destroyed many millions of pounds this season hehe
Nowhere near as many millions of pounds as Williams have destroyed this year. Based on this season I truly believe Williams should have a cameo in the upcoming Wreckfest 2.
