In just under two weeks, the free-to-play racing title Rennsport will take its first step towards a release as Early Access starts in December 2024, with the full launch set to happen in 2025.

From a new UI to promises of new content, Rennsport looks to power into its Early Access period this December. Thus far, the sim has been in an Open Beta state since the Summer of 2024.

The fourth radio check is now live on Rennsport's YouTube channel. This announcement contains a plethora of new information, content, and screenshots. Rennsport's new UI, Which they teased previously, will be implemented in their Early Access build, and a new car, the BMW M2 CS Racing, is coming to the sim.

New UI

The new UI for Rennsport's early access is a significant upgrade from the previous small pictureless boxes that plagued the title. The new design is a work in progress, but it is a considerable upgrade, even in its current state.

Rennsport's new UX/UI design in early access

Rennsport's UI is being improved by increasing the size of the buttons, making it more accessible for people who are further away from their monitor. The new interactive feature allows you to select your favourite, most recently raced, or latest car as a featured animated backdrop.

Founders Pack

New information on the founder's packs was also released, with the 'Founder's Island' nearing completion. Whilst sounding like a mid-2000s TV show, Founder's Island holds a race track with everyone's name either on the wall or the run-off, depending on which tier of the pack you have purchased.

New Free Car: BMW M2 CS

One of the most common 'Beginner' cars in most simulators, the BMW M2 CS continues to dominate at the lower levels of competition with its integration into the Rennsport's early access program. The M2 CS is a rear-wheel-drive baby GT car that is the best step for new and experienced players looking to step up to GT4 or GT3 cars.

The significant part about an addition like the M2 CS is that it can be free for everyone who signs up. Like the Mazda MX-5s or Formula Fords on iRacing, this series will be dedicated to new Rennsport or sim racing players in general.

Battle Pass-style Mechanic

Like a prime Fortnite, a battle pass-style system to unlock additional items has been officially announced for Rennsport. This content style is not found in racing simulators, and as Rennsport aims to compete with the likes of iRacing and Assetto Corsa Competizione, this might be something many sim racers will have a hard time accepting.

What do you think about the battle pass system? Is it something you want to see brought into racing sims?

Completing specific missions within Rennsport will be the name of the game. Comparisons between Need For Speed Unbound's Speed Pass and the Formula One games' Podium Pass could be made. No content has been shown for the battle pass, so time will tell how well it is implemented.

The next update is estimated to hit the sim on December 4th, 2024. However, a complete, non-early access version is scheduled for early to mid-2025.

What do you think about Rennsport's new update? Will you be playing the early access build in December? Let us know in the comments below!

A big part of our lives is what we believe in. And I believe that our relation to these beautiful machines is clean, honest and poetic. Driving a race car at the limit is something that no one can forget easily, even if it is virtual.

When at 3am I am alone driving that Hyundai Elantra, I feel that there is something special happening. That car is showing me the best part of myself.

I think that rennsport is or will be very special.

I really don't know what to make of this news...

To me there's very little difference between Open BETA and the way AMS2 or ACC has been developed with massive game changers coming out almost yearly... All have that factor of being "in development" which can lead to surprises and disappointments...

So that's not really anything to react to in my eyes...

But a full release in 2025? They're years away still... Fixed set ups still...

And a battle pass...

Kinda feels like they're throwing in the towel on one hand, but going hard for the casual on the other... That physics engine deserves better...

might be one of the biggest racing game flops of all time, right next to Project CARS 3
