With the big v1.6 update, plenty of new content is coming to Automobilista 2. Players who are on the fence about the DLC get to try it for free.

Reiza Studios is looking to take another big step forward in Automobilista 2 with version 1.6 - but the update does not just come with improved physics, a new UI, and plenty of other interesting details, but also with a lot of new content. In total, three new tracks and 13 new cars, plus two modified versions of pre-existing ones, are set to launch alongside the update.

That is a lot to play with - and the tracks as well as nine of the cars will come as paid DLC. While the cars will be split into two packs each at €/$9.99, the price for the track pack is not known yet, but previous packs of a similar size such as the Historical Track Pack Pt1, were in a similar price range.

For sim racers who want all the new content, that could mean a not insignificant extra investment in the sim. Keep in mind, however, that you can still race on tracks that you do not own in AMS2 as long as someone else hosts the session they are used in online.

The GT4 version of the Audi R8 LMS will be added to AMS2 for free.

As they did with previous DLC packs, Reiza will release these new packs - the Lamborghini Dream Pack Pt1, the Endurance Pack Pt2 and the track pack - with a free trial period. For the debut of the F-HiTech classes representing the 1992 and 1993 F1 seasons or the Endurance Pack Pt1 featuring the first three Hypercars, this was done already, and Reiza Lead Developer Renato Simioni confirmed that this would be the case again.

Sim racers could look forward to "not quite a week but a couple of days" with the new content to see if they like it enough to buy it. Those who are looking to be able to drive every IMSA-related car, both the Lamborghini and Endurance packs will be necessary - the former contains the SC63 and Huracán GT3 EVO2, the latter comes with the Oreca 07 and Ligier JS P217 LMP2 prototypes as well as the Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II and Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R GTD cars.

Will you be making use of the free trial period, or is the new content for Automobilista 2 v1.6 an automatic buy for you anyway? Let us know in the comments below and join the discussion in our AMS2 forum!

It's funny that some AMS2 fans are complaining in every LMU threat about it's EA with the optional DLCs and the Season pass where you basicly know what you are getting - a game that cost around 30 Euro at release. And then you have this system with all kinds of different perks, special memberships, betas with different game editions etc ... don't get me wrong, some of the content is very unique and interesting, but sometimes less is more and keeping things simple might help to get everyone on the same page. Btw, Paddock Club membership would have been 160 Euro for me paying for something where I don't know what I get ...

Where can I pay 100€ for beta access??? 😀
I got it during the prerelease time for around 100 euros or dollars, and it was a good deal as it included all AMS2's future content. I must admit it is cool to test the betas during their development, especially with such a big update (really big!). I must also admit that I only realised less than 2 years ago that I had access to this club and the betas. Would I recommend paying 100€ for beta access ? Absolutely not, because you probably can get all the current content for a much smaller price during sales. And anyway, I think it is not possible anymore. In one word : patience... ;)

I'll be watching the reactions avidly and if it sounds it really is as good as some have been teasing, then I may even get it full price. Just wish I had more spare time (and didn't like almost every single genre of gaming).
I've been honest in my previous 1.6 beta review, many will be surprised (honest haters should change their minds but, is there any honesty in the haters ? don't get philosopical please :D ). To explain a bit more, the physics changes in 1.5 felt like (very good) adjustments, but this, this change feels like a replacement. With the 1.5 version, you were still feeling at home but with something better. With the 1.6 beta, I wasn't feeling at home anymore (I even expect some may dislike the changes). I think there is a demo on Steam, Reiza really should update it when the 1.6 is out.

Personally I've felt the current physics are a bit off with lateral grip (speaking from a non expert point of view) in quite a few cars. Other than riding supersports bikes fast, I have no experience so have no idea if my feelings are "right" or not. I'm hoping that is tweaked, but In the end it's a game and I still have fun and easily get my money's worth out of it.

Are you speaking of the current beta or the current public version? The lateral grip has drastically changed. Cars are generally much harder to turn in the 1.6 beta, I don't know whether it is right or not but it feels closer to what we usually experience in other sims, so I assume it is in the right direction.
