Automobilista 2: Incoming DLC Will Have Free Trial Period

With the big v1.6 update, plenty of new content is coming to Automobilista 2. Players who are on the fence about the DLC get to try it for free.

Reiza Studios is looking to take another big step forward in Automobilista 2 with version 1.6 - but the update does not just come with improved physics, a new UI, and plenty of other interesting details, but also with a lot of new content. In total, three new tracks and 13 new cars, plus two modified versions of pre-existing ones, are set to launch alongside the update.

That is a lot to play with - and the tracks as well as nine of the cars will come as paid DLC. While the cars will be split into two packs each at €/$9.99, the price for the track pack is not known yet, but previous packs of a similar size such as the Historical Track Pack Pt1, were in a similar price range.

For sim racers who want all the new content, that could mean a not insignificant extra investment in the sim. Keep in mind, however, that you can still race on tracks that you do not own in AMS2 as long as someone else hosts the session they are used in online.

The GT4 version of the Audi R8 LMS will be added to AMS2 for free.

As they did with previous DLC packs, Reiza will release these new packs - the Lamborghini Dream Pack Pt1, the Endurance Pack Pt2 and the track pack - with a free trial period. For the debut of the F-HiTech classes representing the 1992 and 1993 F1 seasons or the Endurance Pack Pt1 featuring the first three Hypercars, this was done already, and Reiza Lead Developer Renato Simioni confirmed that this would be the case again.

Sim racers could look forward to "not quite a week but a couple of days" with the new content to see if they like it enough to buy it. Those who are looking to be able to drive every IMSA-related car, both the Lamborghini and Endurance packs will be necessary - the former contains the SC63 and Huracán GT3 EVO2, the latter comes with the Oreca 07 and Ligier JS P217 LMP2 prototypes as well as the Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II and Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R GTD cars.

Will you be making use of the free trial period, or is the new content for Automobilista 2 v1.6 an automatic buy for you anyway? Let us know in the comments below and join the discussion in our AMS2 forum!

I've heard the three new tracks include Road Atlanta and Sebring but I haven't heard what the third track is. Any confirmation on that one yet?

From Treccani Encyclopedia
In psychoanalysis, by transl. of the German Besetzung by S. Freud (propr. «occupation with ...»), the act of connecting an affective charge to real or imaginary representations, or to objects; also, the affective component that a representation, real or imaginary, or an object possess in the psyche of a given person.

It is also an investment in oneself, etymologically speaking.
I agree and I weigh more carefully when I invest my time or my emotional energy rather than when I invest my money.

An this thread had some emotional energy leaks :(

Thx for ruin this thread, teddy... again 😆
Btw, I would like to mention the increased racecraft in my daily public races. Most of the faster guys are driving nice and fair. Had a lot of good races recently (maybe Rhino is listening?!). And the realistic contact physic keeps you on track. A slight contact side by side doesn't spin you to hell. ("ACCcough") 😉

What are you referring to this time? Wanting to know what the third track is or the discussion about the cost of any DLC?
Just the investment in off topic philosophical discussion.
Third track and cost are relevant.

It is not off topic if someone says that an investment is only about making money and not about physical or psychological improvement.
But then you biased moderators, you make a call to these things, but let your favorites ruin an entire discussion, despite everyone complaining.
All this is ridiculous, not to say pathetic.

I wonder how many members looking at the title of the article were concerned about the abstract idea you propose.

You're entitled to your opinion and now you've had it let's return to the actual topic.

Hello, with all my respect for your hard work, moderating two comments on philosophy without any malice or aggression even if they do not have a direct link with the subject but leaving comments by the dozen without any intervention, in any case visible intervention, which have no other purpose than to demolish the interest without taking into account real qualities or defects of AMS2 or simply to annoy the community, I personally find unfair.
I try to keep quiet but it is really not easy.
We must not feed the troll ok, but then the troll must be punished more than the guy who answers the troll because it is not fair otherwise.
There you go, that's my opinion, and I am not writing this for fun, I know that I will still get a message of reminder to order but too bad.
I loved Racedepartment and I think the living spirit it still represents beyond Overtake needs to be defended.

Thanks.
My philosophical comment was following the discussion about the cost for DLC that was defined as an investment, someone wrote that the investment is only if you earn money, while another user has, in my opinion rightly, pointed out that a person can invest time or money even in something that only gives pleasure without profit.
I only supported this last thesis, but evidently it was a reasoning too difficult to understand for someone.

Ah sorry I write it a bit easier, I meant it's OK to pay for the 1.6 DLCs because it's an investment in my hobby and fun. And that l find this is a well justified investment despite no financial return, i.e. I don't make money with this.

Yes, I agree with this. One of the few titles that allows for good door to door racing without your car exploding or flying off into the barrier.

Well, I just tried the beta 1.6 version and I'm surprised. I used to enjoy the game a lot, except I thought something was odd with the open wheelers, something that someone had pointed out years ago : you could heavily slide F1s and be faster than without sliding. I was indeed surprised in the last version that I was able to take each corner on Brands Hatch, with the 92 Williams F1 full of electronics and active suspensions, going full slide and gaining time. It is over now, the car is planted and won't slide. Then I tried the 95 Indycar (that behave too oversteery before, with a snap aspect, I didn't like it) and I felt I was playing Indycar Racing again, great car, fantastic update. Then older F1s, they feel really solid and planted. Maybe the 60s F1 car without wings, which doesn't slide a lot, is a bit too planted, not sure it is realistic or not. I have doubts about the "Fan" car, it doesn't seem to stick more to the ground than the F1 cars of the same year.

In general all cars feel less slidy an more direct, it is a real change of feeling. Cold tires are a thing now, cars are harder to drive in general, much less forgiving, and stormy conditions are not easy at all now (I tried with an F1 car). The changes in physics are much more impactful than when the 1.5 version came out. Now I have to launch races to test the AI, but this update is promising. Ah, and there's the Sebring...

EDIT : the braking has completely changed too, wheels lock up much easier, it needs some subtlelty.
where I can download the beta ?

ah ja... it is called Paddock Club. The Club of Supreme Sim Racing. Pay to Sim Model. Very Revolutionary. Made me feel like an inferior person as I could not afford it. Thanks Reiza for this.

If you don't already have it you can't get it right now. It's only ever been available as a perk in their crowdfunding campaigns on IndieGogo around 2015 (which also included beta to AMS 1) then on their website in 2019 and 2022 (as the Paddock Club)

If they do it again imo it's very nice if you can get in but it was very expensive last time (US$100-200 depending on what you already had) and I'm not sure whether it's worth it at that price though it did include AMS1 Ultimate + AMS2 with all current and future DLC as well as the beta access

You get a decent amount for your money but it was far more expensive than it had been before (when I got access in 2015 I paid $75 and that included Stock Car Extreme, Formula Truck 2013 and both the main and beta versions of AMS 1 and 2 with all DLC)
