An idea that started as a one-person operation to re-create treasured childhood memories has turned into one of the most hotly anticipated radio-controlled style driving games in the last decade. This is TrophyRC.
Creator Eugene Hatskevich wanted to bring the world of rock crawling and offroad RC racing to gamers worldwide. Originally based on childhood nostalgia, TrophyRC is generating a lot of excitement across Steam and LinkedIn.
Three different styles of truck behind the Jeep-style crawler
The world of RC games had its golden era in the 1990s and early 2000s, with many PlayStation 2 and PC titles, including Micro Machines or Re-Volt, and many smaller budget titles. The closest a significant game title has come to replicating the RC spirit would be the Hot Wheels Unleashed series across all platforms.
TrophyRC has received a lot of praise for its unique idea and intriguing, albeit limited, available gameplay. Hatskevitch recently announced that the title has received its first major RC brand collaboration, with the announcement coming very soon. This is what fans of the RC car genre want to see: an RC title with real-world manufacturer support and a passionate developer behind it.
Whilst the game's system requirements are not too specific, once it is optimised and released on Steam, it should be fairly simple to run on most modern PC systems. Wheel and pedal support is unlikely, but a controller would actually be the far more realistic option for TrophyRC!
Maintenance and customization bench
With so many interesting avenues that TrophyRC could go down in the future with so many disciplines of RC racing, what style would you most like to see? Do you have your own RC? We would love to see them down in the comments below!
Overall, TrophyRC has plenty of potential for a game that just one person is currently working on. The shell is there, the workings just need to be ironed out. Once a release date is set, we can start getting excited about the return of RC cars to our screens.
The same backyard-style map is the only option available right now. However, there are more maps and areas to come
Is TrophyRC an exciting prospect for you? Which RC manufacturers would you want to see in the game? Let us know in the comments below!

More Than An RC Driving Game
TrophyRC already shows that it is much more than a scaled-down offroad simulator. In the final screenshot available on Steam, there is a workbench with a disassembled RC car. A customizable base for the RC cars in TrophyRC is critical to the title's DNA, as real RC cars are incredibly customizable - your creativity is often the only limit.
