Community Question: Which Car Would You Like To See Brought To Assetto Corsa?

Assetto Corsa is renowned for being the most versatile racing simulator on the market with thousands of cars and other vehicles available to download as mods. But which car do you want to see modded into Assetto Corsa?

The sheer range of cars available makes choosing one that has not been added to Assetto Corsa yet a real task. However, plenty of racing series and road cars are yet to be added. A series close to my heart is the short oval National Hotrod series, for instance, not to be confused with the Hot Rods of the USA.

These cars are unbelievable works of engineering that produce some of the best racing available. The most common cars in the series range from ND Mazda MX5s, Ginetta G40s, Lotus Exiges, Vauxhall/Opel Tigras and Peugeot 206s. Other vehicles such as Ford Fiestas and Vauxhall Novas and Toyota Starlets have also seen championship success.

Races are conducted on tarmac ovals at a 1/4 mile in length. Despite deliberate contact between cars being banned, accidents are common and often quite spectacular. This is often down to the huge number of cars racing, sometimes thirty-plus, within the tight short oval environment.

The National Hot Rods use tubed chassis from front to back and are layered with kevlar bodies and highly tuned 2-litre straight-4 engines producing upwards of 240 horsepower in a car that weighs just below 700kg.

Having these cars in Assetto Corsa would be a fantastic addition, not just because they are a real handful to control, but because a lot of them are raced on full-scale circuits in the United Kingdom especially. The cars can be fitted with a different differential, and they are ready to go to circuits like Donington Park and Silverstone.

Assetto Corsa would benefit hugely from these incredible cars. The great part about them is the variety in bodyshells, despite the large majority of the mechanical parts being identical to encourage close racing. This means that there could be plenty of variety in a mod pack of these cars without having to individually tune and model each bodyshell.

The National Hot Rods have featured as a mod pack for the original rFactor and were very popular with a stacked series most Friday nights throughout the early 2010s. Bringing the Hot Rods to Assetto Corsa could be a fantastic addition to both the short oval racing world as well as the road courses.

So, which series or car do you want to see modded into Assetto Corsa in the future? Maybe it's your road car or fun weekend car that you would love to tune and set up for the track one day. Or perhaps you want to drive your dream car around one of the many free-roam maps available for Assetto Corsa.

Let us know in the poll above or in the comments down below which car you want to see added into Assetto Corsa!

Ligier JS 2 R, Ligier LMP4, Veloqx Fangio, Ford GT LMH (fictional), Ford GT Mk.II, Ford GT Mk.IV, Quadra GT66 Avenger (from Cyberpunk 2077), Archer Quartz "Sidewinder" (hatchback/rally type from Cyberpunk 2077), Red Bull RB17 hypercar, HRX Ford (Dakar crossover), Mazzanti Evantra 771, several fictional cars I made with Automation & pretty much any car that ever raced at Le Mans that isn't already out there.

I would really like a rwd car with similar performance of the MX5 Cup but with sligthly different characteristics.

I could write some silly things, and cars I have experience with IRL, but you know what? For all the Ferraris we have officially in the game and for all the quality Ferrari mods we have, I haven't come across a quality F430 yet.
Or a 430 Scuderia as well.

A properly recreated Touring Car Class 1 car from DTM/ITC era. There isn't one in the whole commercial simracing landscape.

Early-2000s DTM cars: afaiu they were quite nimble compared to GT3 and such. They raced at Adria of all places, despite the 600 horsepower. There are four mods, but the quality is questionable in both the cockpit looks and the physics: the suspension is so stiff that it's hard to feel anything, and it's unclear if this is how it's supposed to have been (I doubt it).

Next-gen NASCAR, which race at road tracks more often now. The existing three-car pack doesn't feel NASCARy, seems too easy to handle — idk if that's realistic. (Edit: apparently I missed the AssettoNASCAR thing, need to try that.)

Land Rover Bowler Rallycross or a similar rallycross SUV — basically because I've played it in Toca Race Driver 2 / Race Driver 2006. There's Dakar Bowler Nemesis T1, but it's rather meh.

Maybe some kinda street-stock cars for racing on short ovals (with way lower power and softer suspension than the Xfinity cup and such). Though AC isn't best for that, particularly in regard to the AI and the setups.

AC could also use a proper pack of 1969/70 NASCAR, with wings and stuff. rF1 had a brilliant mod for this, with handling quite noticeably varying between the cars.

More 50s sportcars, perhaps as a pack. E.g. there's 'NASCAR 1955', but it feels way too easy to drive.

Also, if someone could tell me why DRM Revival cars want to jump into the bushes from the slightest excessive acceleration or braking, that would be great. They're hard to drive even in a straight line, with all oversteer dialed to the minimum.

No-one yet mentioned the McMurtry Speirling? I'd love to try for a sub-four minute lap of the Nords in something other than the RB X2010 with it's magical tyres - use magical fans instead :)

Isn't 90s DTM one of the most popular subjects among touring-car mods? I see it mentioned all the time, and pretty sure there were races in this community.

There are many mods and also in official content form in more than one sim of these cars. Does not mean there is a single one that is not outright underperforming and boring to drive.

Bear in mind that one thing is the Group A derived cars that raced until 1992, and then there is Touring Car Class 1 that followed since 1993, with more power, aero, and several technological advancements. It's the latter where we are lacking.

Dodge Viper GTS-R 96-2004, seems to be missing from every sim currently.

Is there a good first-gen street Viper for AC, at least? I want that jumpy acceleration and sketchy rear. Opened a bunch of tabs with various Vipers recently, but most implement the SRT models, and none seem to stand out.
