Three years after first unveiling it, Fanatec have launched the the Podium Steering Wheel Bentley GT3. More new gear is on the way, too.
The Fanatec sim racing hardware brand has endured a difficult couple of months, but things have recently calmed down. Corsair acquired Fanatec and parent company Endor, completing the acquisition on 23 September.
Now, the focus shifts to new sim racing equipment instead of business matters again. Fanatec launched a long-overdue product while also showcasing new gear that should be in the hands of sim racers soon -
here is the round-up of all the items.
Furthermore, the promise of the Podium Steering Wheel Bentley GT3 is now being fulfilled: The wheel featuring a circular center display has officially launched for sim racers to order. But of course, the wheel itself will be quite expensive - €1,999.99 to be exact. However, that is not all in terms of new officially-licenced manufacturer branded wheels, as you can also get one from Porsche.
The new Porsche Fanatec rim has been lifted straight from the Vision Gran Turismo concept car.
As had already emerged in early Summer, this is the Porsche Vision GT, which will be released in the CSL line rather than the Podium one. What may be most interesting with the Porsche rim is that it features hall sensors for the shifter paddles, which means that the system has magnets that are detected when there is movement without actually making any connections that typically result in wear and tear over time. The Porsche rim is expected to be available for purchase in early 2025.
Then there is the previously-announced GT3 Endurance rim shown off during the Spa 24 Hours and sold as a limited edition there (and we got one!), plus a Red Bull Racing-branded Special Edition formula rim.
Furthermore, Fanatec steps up its handbrake game. The new ClubSport Handbrake V2 features a load cell and is expected to be available in early November. Our team on the ground reports that it feels a lot more solid and a dramatic step up from the V1 counterpart.
This new handbrake from Fanatec uses the same load-cell system as the brand's brake pedals.
