Monster Energy Supercross 25 Returns On Unreal Engine 5

The Monster Energy Supercross series will be back in 2025: Milestone's motocross racer makes the transition to current-gen systems and will use Unreal Engine 5 for its next entry.

High-flying jumps, close racing on stadium-based circuits, and lots of dirt are some of the core elements of the Supercross series. The latest game on the championship has seen the light of day in in March of 2023, with Monster Energy Supercross 6 receiving mixed reviews.

For 2025, publisher-developer Milestone aims for more. Monster Energy Supercross 25 not only sports a new nomenclature, ditching the simple "part number" approach for a year - that being 2025, of course. While no exact date has been given yet, the game is due to arrive next year, too.

Out With UE4, In With Unreal Engine 5

This time, the game aims to take a step forward, transitioning from Unreal Engine 4 to UE5 while also not releasing to previous-gen consoles anymore - so no PlayStation 4 or Xbox One versions will be part of the new Supercross.

With this transition, new physics will also be implemented, according to the first teaser trailer for the game. Milestone claims to have been busy "re-inventing our game from the ground up" in the trailer - a bold claim that many sports gamers might have heard quite frequently in other titles only for nothing much changing. Whether or not that is the case in Monster Energy Supercross 25 remains to be seen.

The game does promise the full 2025 season, however, which should be a step forward considering that its predecessor highlighted the 2022 Supercross Championship despite being released in 2023.

I guess you can only copy and paste your games for so long before you need to start afresh and then copy and paste again.

If monster jam is anything to go by then milestone really have a handle on how to make their games look and perform amazingly in UE5. Nice to see them still making the dirt bike stuff. This will no doubt blow the awful nacon engined MXGP game out of the water.
