After months of teasers, BeamNG.drive's new 0.33 update has finally dropped with the debut of the new Gavril MD-Series.

The 0.33 update has been played down dramatically by the BeamNG developers since April this year. However, it appears they have had their community on strings, as this massive update adds a new truck, map updates, a seemingly endless list of additions and QOL changes.

BeamNG has also released a new showreel to their YouTube channel, showing off just how far the sim has come since its debut back in 2013.

New Vehicle: Gavril MD-Series

Welcome, Gavril MD-Series! This versatile medium-duty truck bridges the gap between the D-Series light trucks and the T-Series highway heavyweights. This truck comes with a wide range of haulage options from flatbeds to box truck configurations.

This American beast is available in both pre and post-facelift variants. There are three cab options with extensive customization possibilities. You can choose from various wheel and tyre variants with several different sizes. There are also specialized configurations for logging, dumping, cargo boxes, ambulances, and tankers.

For those who crave off-road adventure, the Gavril MD-Series offers four dedicated 4WD configurations, two of which uniquely combine the transfer case range box with the gearbox splitter for very low gearing. You may think that is all, but some upfits now include JATO Rockets!

With the JATO Rockets and the newly updated materials, the MD-Series can be turned into a traffic-wrecking machine.

West Coast, USA Improvements

Moving away from the vehicles, another round of improvements has been done to several areas on the West Coast, USA map, including the Belasco and Spearleaf Shuffleboard Logistics area. The road network in the Spearleaf Marine Logistics area has also been overhauled and the diner, the dirt track, and the tunnel lanes to the island have received some love.

Brand-new Industrial area re-work for West Coast USA.

The island refinery entrances, parking, island sidewalks, and highway toll booths have all received major updates and new models. Smaller bug fixes address issues with unused materials, floating objects, and mesh errors. Plus, Chinatown shops now feature accurate Chinese signage.

Gavril T-Series Remake Part 3

The T-Series remake is finally reaching its final destination with this third and final update. This big final update adds several community-requested features as well as new configurations and JATO rockets.

Among those is a new, shorter variant of the fifth wheel frame. This more agile configuration has the same amount of power as its older predecessors and is great for lighter loads. Several interesting axle configurations have also been added: Twin-steer, tri-drive and passive steering lift axle, with rather interesting handling characteristics, (lift it before reversing).

For racing enthusiasts, there is also an option for a brand-new V8 engine with up to 3000 HP for loaded-truck drag races.

This final update also brings several new configs, including one with tridem rear suspension, suitable for steel coil transport. A twin-steer dump truck is also making its debut with better manoeuvring. Some existing configurations have also been updated with the addition of more powerful engines, lift axles or twin steer for better handling of heavier loads.

New Vehicle Parts

The Ibishu Pessima and Hirochi SBR4 have both received new configurations as well as a plethora of aftermarket parts, and new racing and street-based liveries. Smaller fixes and improvements have also been applied to several other vehicles, including the Autobello Piccolina, Bruckell Legran, Civetta Scintilla, Hirochi Sunburst, and Soliad Lansdale, among many more.

Missions

All single-player Scenarios have been converted into missions instead and, although still recognisable, thoroughly polished the existing missions. These updates include player vehicles. Additionally, seven brand-new missions have been introduced - the Gavril MD-Series now features a Delivery mission in Italy, a Crawl mission in Johnson Valley, and an Evade mission in East Coast, USA.

A brand-new drag racing system has been implemented, usable both in and outside of missions, with customizable drag race types. The Drag Practice Mode can be entered in freeroam without any loading screen, just approach the stage line and you are away. Additionally, drag nodes have been added to the Flowgraph system, enabling the creation of drag missions anywhere you see fit.

The Drift mission type has also undergone extensive improvements. Scoring and combo systems have been fine-tuned, offering a more balanced and rewarding experience. Several new stunt zones have been added, and it is now also possible to add an unlimited number of stunt zones to Drift challenges.

How is the VR performance in this title? I started doing some rallycross on AMS 2 and now I'm looking for some rally. I heard BeamNG has some nice rally content (or mods, idk).

I've found VR stable and easy to launch. Performance is going to be hardware dependant but I have zero issues.

I do get a bit seasick from extended runs on rough surfaces, But if you are looking for VR Off-Road, This is it.

It has a reputation for being extremely hard to run, I have a 3070ti and a Ryzen 5800X and struggle to run the game WITHOUT VR. I'd watch some youtube videos on the VR performance before you buy if thats what your looking forward too. Besides performance issues BeamNG has the most realistic offroading physics in any driving game by far so rallying will be fun and realistic (ffb isn't as good as AC but still good enough to be immersive)

Yeah, they need to optimize the performance of this game a lot.

I tried Beam a couple years ago and it just wasn't something that interested me at the time. Since then I've moved almost entirely to rally and rx and kind of bored with road racing. Looks like a good time to jump back in at it's usual 20 buck sale price.

Thanks for the replies. The game is on sale, I think I'll get it this time. RTX 3080 with i7 11700K. I hope I can have a decent performance in VR.
