Ahead of its release on September 12, the team behind Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown have already revealed the roadmap for content that will be added post-launch - including a throwback location.
KT Racing has revived the renowned Test Drive Unlimited series with their upcoming title Solar Crown releasing in mere weeks. Players will drive a full-scale map of Hong Kong island in the first TDU title since 2011's Test Drive Unlimited 2, and the first Test Drive title since 20212's Ferrari Racing Legends.
For those who playedTDU2, it will not be long before there will be something nostalgic for you in the upcoming title. In a video posted on their Twitter account, developer KT Racing have gone into detail about their plan for the game after release, starting with a map expansion to add Ibiza in December.
For the third season starting March 2025, a Clan War will begin. Going up against players of the other clan, you can get yourselves a boost in your reputation within your own clan by engaging in these activities and races. In the game, players can choose whether they want to be part of the Streets or the Sharps.
The Streets are driven by an underground and extravagant motoring culture, whereas the Sharps in contrast are more about sophistication, elegance and a contemporary approach to cars. Two very different outlooks on cars and car culture, and the seeds of tension planted in the first two seasons between Streets and Sharps will bloom as the war begins.
The official roadmap for Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown and release dates for each season.
For the final Year 1 update releasing June 2025, the casino, which had a major role in Test Drive Unlimited 2, returns. Cars can be won in the casino, although the team do not mention if cars that can be won in the casino will be exclusively accessible there.
Beyond the first year, there are plans to add purchasable houses, apartments and even yachts. This has been a staple in past TDU titles with Solar Crown breaking the mould with players being exclusively based at the Solar Hotel at launch. Motorcycles are also on the agenda.
The Sharps edition gives players a Jaguar F-Type SVR Coupe at Level 12 and an Audi R8 Spyder V10 RWS at Level 20, whereas the Streets edition gives players a Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR at Level 12 and a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG at Level 20. If you do not want to skip out on any content, the Gold Edition provides everything already listed plus a Maserati MC20 and Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE at Level 20.
Additionally, Gold Edition owners get to play the game from September 5. Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown will release for PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.
