The summer break is over, as the Formula One season resumes with the Dutch Grand Prix - home turf for reigning World Champion Max Verstappen.

After weeks of no F1 racing, fans can breathe a sigh if relief as the Formula One Dutch Grand Prix marks the end of the summer break. Of course, no racing did not mean no news.

Jack Doohan to drive for Alpine in 2025​

A move that has headlined Formula One's return after the summer break, Australian Jack Doohan will make his full-time debut in Formula One with Alpine in 2025. The 21-year-old will be replacing Esteban Ocon as Pierre Gasly’s teammate for the 2025 Formula One season.

With the rumours of Liam Lawson closing in on a deal with RBVCA and Daniel Ricciardo seemingly on a downward trajectory, are we seeing a change of the guard within Australian motorsport?


Doohan is no stranger to Alpine's F1 machinery. The young Aussie has racked up plenty of mileage with Alpine over the last couple of years as their official test and reserve driver. Doohan has successfully completed a range of private test days and has appeared in six FP1 sessions since Abu Dhabi in 2022.

Lewis Hamilton and Bono set to part ways for 2025​

The iconic audio bite that we all know too well from the era of Mercedes dominance 'Get in there Lewis!' will soon be a phrase of the past. Lewis Hamilton is moving to Ferrari in 2025 and his race engineer, Pete Bonnington, or Bono for short, has committed to a future at Mercedes.

Bono has been internally promoted to head of Head of Engineering and will take over his role with immediate effect at this weekend's Dutch Grand Prix. Time will tell if Hamilton will miss Bono in terms of his guidance and race knowledge. His new engineer is yet to be announced for when he joins the Scuderia next season.

Can Ricciardo survive in F1's current driver market?​

Daniel Ricciardo is certain he will remain a major part of the Red Bull family for future Formula One seasons. In a campaign where he is really struggling for consistent and points-filled results, the Australian has admitted that junior driver Liam Lawson deserves a seat in F1.

It is no secret that the crowd's favourite Australian is under severe pressure to start performing to keep his seat for 2025. Daniel Ricciardo has had a lacklustre 2024 campaign and with fellow countryman, Liam Lawson, desperate for a full-time drive with the RBVCA squad, the pressure is on for the honey badger.

Ricciardo has shown he still has the pace to be in F1. Ricciardo has shown pace on multiple occasions this season, but the performances have been too few and far between to guarantee his future in the sport.

Ricciardo’s best Grand Prix result this season came in Canada when he finished eighth. If you count sprint race results, he has a best finish of fourth, maintaining his qualifying position in the Miami sprint.

So can Ricciardo survive in this season's drivers market? The answer is a clear yes. He has the name, the track record and most importantly; time. Red Bull has said publically they are giving Ricciardo every opportunity to turn his situation around and their commitment to him is clear.

As for the race, it looks interesting between half a dozen of them, it's anybodys weekend!

I'm gladJack did, because it shows that even with the pleathora of long term contracts for the (oldies) established drivers there's belief in the new guys... and we really NEED to let more teams onto the grid... teams, there just isn't enough cars for the drivers, the FOM should be overulled by the FIA, upstarts with money ruin everything

Yes you have a point there!
I think max will need to do his best to secure the win here (i wouldn't be surprised huh), mercedes and especially mclaren looking really strong so far. Ferrari..erm..ferrari..anyway.

At Monaco they got a Casino next to the track.
Tomorrow will be like playing a roulette table on the track.
It can be totally dry in 15 minutes.
And soaked again in 3.

Is McLaren really 2 tenths faster? (Short track-check, loads of downforce needed-check)
Mercedes up for another victory out of nowhere?

The Red Bull looks a little faster in race trim but Lando's stellar lap was that of a determined man, well done everyone... except one or two!
Game on for tomorrow.

Lando did not look too happy, even after winning the qually.
He was realizing his teammate was behind Verstappen on the grid.
Great friendship and determination test going in to the Tarzan-corner tomorrow.
Verstappen was smiling and whispering, You want to live or die?.... it's up to you punk.
 
Wow, incredible lap by lando, but yeah i'm sure he fears tomorrow's start xD.. great job by max too to be there, while not the expected performance for oscar. Expected more from mercedes too btw.. i think we're in for a good race tomorrow though, curious to see how it unfolds.
 
I don't understand why I haven't gotten the call up to F-1 considering Logan Sargent is still a driver.

I don't understand it either, you're bound to be within half a second of Alex Albon and I just know you have a multi-million dollar backing from some major sponsors too.
But, I'm not sure why you'd want to to be honest, I thought that cars bursting into flames after a crash had been cured after Romain's fireball.
 
Do you mean that in F1, the fastest car (not necesarrily driver) is 1st, then comes the slower car, then the slower, then the slower?
 
On a different note, I'm suspicious of Norris's left front not rotating in the chacane.

Modern cars have electronic systems that asymmetrically pump one side of the brakes to help the car turn, like a differential, if you will. This is not supposed to exist in F1.

There tons of oil pipes and electrical wires with high charges.
There is quite some battery and loads of fuel.
When you break a car so severely it can always happen.
That it happens so rarely is sign of how safe these cars are nowadays.

So you're suspicious of a lock up? A lock up is a good indication that there is no assist at play.
 
Well hats off to lando, great job!!also to max, he did all he could, and yet again, managed to overtake lando at the start lol xD
 
Oh i forgot, disappointing oscar, i don't understand why he was so "slow" compared to lando all weekend; while ferrari surprised me with a really good pace, and they had no upgrades, apparently they'll have a lot of upgrades for monza though.

no one brakes that late into that corner, by the time you are there, you should have released the brake a long time ago. I am an expert, I drive cars in games. ;)

I mean, it's faster to the slow down the inside wheel. Many electronic systems work this way, not only ESP. Even Mazda has a similar system that activates without the driver intervening (RIP brake pads). And apparently, this is one of the ways they make drivers feel like they are skilled now adays.
