After making a name for themselves in the sim racing hardware market with rigs, pedals, seats and more, Sim-Lab have now made their first step into manufacturing wheels in partnership with the Mercedes F1 team.

Ever wanted a wheel that resembles the ones used by the likes of Valtteri Bottas, Nico Rosberg, George Russell and the record holder for most F1 wins, Lewis Hamilton? Without a 3D printer and tinkering, that is? Sim-Lab might have just the wheel for you: Their first-ever sim racing steering wheel is a replica of the actual F1 wheel.

The Mercedes-AMG Formula One Team Sim Racing Steering Wheel (2024) is an officially licenced design straight from the team with who Sim-Lab are the official esports partner. It resembles the wheel that has been used by the Grand Prix drivers ever since the start of the turbo-hybrid regulations in 2014.

Sim-Lab Mercedes F1 Wheel Specs

Naturally, Sim-Lab's announcement comes with the specifications of the wheel. 280mm in diameter, an estimated weight of 1,240 grams plus 14 buttons with two rear switches, nine rotary switches, as well as shifter and clutch paddles are on board. As far as connectivity with wheelbases goes, providing the wheelbase is PC compatible, all it needs is a USB connection and a 70mm bolt pattern to mount it.

There is also the scratch resistant 4 by 3 inch screen, which when paired with software from RaceDirector or SimHub creates authentic dash layouts and LED profiles that you would also see in the real F1 car.

You could spend hours mapping all the buttons and switches on the Mercedes Sim-Lab Steering Wheel.

But all of this does come at a price, as the Sim-Lab Mercedes-AMG Formula One Team Sim Racing Steering Wheel (quite a mouthful) is listed at €2,700.00 / $2,499.00 US / £2,294.00. Shipping is set to commence in the final week of August. More info is available on the Sim-Lab website.

That's very expensive, but if the quality is great, then it's actually a very fair price!
One does not simply build such a wheel with good rotaries, good electronics, real carbon etc. for less than 3k.

I'm very curious about first tests. Should be an absolute banger, if you're into such wheels and got the money for it.

Cube Controls must be devastated that the "privilege" was not bestowed upon them since they've already worked with AMG before ;)

with money there is no limit, and it's nice to have a very high quality replica. We don't have all the same budget.
But even if I have the money, for 1500€ I prefer the Ascher Mclaren Artura ultimate, cause it's perfectly plug and play and compatible with the simucube 2 and Im bored with 280mm wheel.

Artura Ultimate has nothing to do with SC2. It's a cable only wheel that connects directly to the PC. It's as compatible with SC2 as every other cable wheel, including the Sim Lab one.

And what is wrong with these companies, can you elaborate?
What I mean is, at what point in a company meeting does this interchange take place and no one sees a problem..

"Hey, let's make a sim steering wheel"
" Yeah, everyone else is making one, why not us"
"What is going to make ours stand out from the other gazillion steering wheels"
"Price"
" I think Logitech already makes em cheap"
"Naw, you got it all wrong. Fanatec made a BMW one for a billion dollars. We are going high end"
" Great, who can we get for a license"
"Mercedes. They said we can use them for 16 gold bricks"
"Ok, so how much do we sell it for"
"Well, Fanatec sells the BMW one for 1,499.00"
"Ours should be at least 2k. We can't let them win the battle of the dumb sim racers"
"Right, let's get it in production and release it as soon as possible"
"Great. So how much did that BMW wheel help Fanatec's bottom line"
"Oh, they are bankrupt"
"Carry on"

  • ASCHER-RACING McLAREN ARTURA PRO
you are right, I prefer the wireless, so the 1200€ one is more than enough, pariticulary cause I use a real dashbord. But I trust more Ascher for simucube than anyother brand
