F1 24 was released to mixed reviews. Version 1.4 brings a small array of changes to the latest F1 title with Career Mode changes and ERS tweaks.

Since the release of F1 24, there have been a host of complaints and issues regarding how the Formula One cars handle on track compared to previous F1 titles. The adjustments in the previous update, v1.24, were a step in the right direction, however, not all issues were tackled in it.

Small Career Mode changes and ERS adjustments are the most prevalent outside of the handling changes and updates from the previous 1.24 update. Whilst this small update does not add a whole lot, it does improve a few annoying issues.

F1 24 v1.4 Patch Notes

  • Fixed an issue in Career modes where the player's Pace rating would be reduced by too much when they didn't get the fastest lap

  • Fixed an issue where all cars could begin the race on the wrong compound for the track conditions

  • Casual Settings Filter will no longer try to set Quick Weather to Clear which could cause issues in some game modes

  • Resolved an issue where the ERS system could sometimes be unexpectedly disabled

Future Plans And Updates

This 1.4 patch adds and changes a little bit of what the community wants and needs to be changed. More is to come, however - here is what the developers over at EA Sports have planned for F1 24 in future patches as of June 12, 2024.

⏳ AWAITING PATCH ⏳

Work has been done to help resolve this issues. It is set to be added to a future patch (not always the "next" patch, but it will come in "a" patch).
  • Career - Two-player Career mode becoming unresponsive in menus - Link to Temporary Workaround
  • Career - Drivers incorrectly or unfairly losing Pace rating if they don't set Fastest Lap
  • Career - Weather desync occurring in Two-Player Career
  • Career - Focus stat rolling back to '99' incorrectly
  • Career - Pace stat increasing incorrectly
  • Gameplay - Wet weather tyre compounds unavailable/incorrect in certain conditions - Link to Temporary Workaround
  • Gameplay - ERS never deploys. As a workaround for now, please increase your brake deadzone.
  • Gameplay - ERS suddenly stops deploying, due to an ERS reliability fault not being communicated to the player.
  • Gameplay - All cars starting on slick tyres in wet conditions
  • Gameplay - Wet tyres not available in wet conditions, when the player uses the Casual race style
  • Gameplay - Unable to open radio comms
  • MyTeam - PS5 players potentially getting a "customisation item removed" error after applying sponsor logos to their MyTeam livery

What stands out from these plans that have been addressed for future updates is the significant amount of fairly baseline gameplay changes. 'All cars starting on dry tyres in wet conditions' should not be a change that needs implementing - that should be in the game from the start

More positive changes that are on the way though include photo mode improvements to address the focusing issues, and players losing 'Pace Rating' unfairly if they do not set the fastest lap of a race.

So has handling been fixed? Didn’t seem to mention it as an area for a future patch?

I’ve stayed away from buying until people say it’s safe to return

I found I can feel the grip level even better through my wheel especially in wet weather. Still a bit off the front end but easy to dial out in setup. Overall the handling is sweet.

Hello. Do you happen to know if they will improve the VR experience ? So far from what I read it is pretty much the same as F1 23, shaking , jitters.... It is very frustrating, some older games makes VR much better...

Define fix? All I can say from my experience is that I'm enjoying the game more everyday. I don't feel like going back to F23 if this helps answering your question.
