Most Played Racing Games On Steam In May 2024

With the racing season firing on all cylinders and big releases following suit, sim racers and racing gamers are spoilt for choice. Here's what they most played on Steam in May 2024.

May 2024 saw the release of F1 24 - albeit at the very tail end of the month, with the full release happening on May 31. As a result, the game's statistics are not included in the list below - also because the player average for less than half a day the game was fully available in May are not available.

What is available, however, is the game's peak since its release. Four hours after its full launch, F1 24 peaked at 8,216 players - considerably less than F1 23's all-time peak of 14,512 in November 2023 and post-release peak of 13,302 in June 2023.

Meanwhile, nothing changed at the top of the list - but third-placed Assetto Corsa achieved a milestone. For the first time in its near-10-year history, Kunos Simulazioni's evergreen racing sim averaged more than 10,000 players. Undoubtedly, AC's thriving modding community deserves credit for this - the title being played more than ever almost 10 years after its full release is nothing short of astounding.

How is that Tokyo cruising looking? AC is really the biggest competitor for Forza Horizon :)

Edit: To make my point clear, i like people saying "AC dominates, etc etc", and compare it to actualy racing games... nobody is racing in AC. LFM is dead already in AC. Those 10k people are just driving around on roads or drifting. AC is basically the cheap FH alternative with "free" mods (rips), and pay mods that are basically copyright infringement.

Note that isn't a take against its physics or anything, this is the reality, AC is NOT a racing game anymore.
AC is not a racing game?? So LFM, WSS, SGP, just to name a few, what are travel agencies?

Oh, you're one of those people that have never heard of a finished product.
Even if it's finished doesn't mean that it shouldnt get any new content or updates. You can say that about any game, Assetto Corsa is finished as well and has a lot of players, thanks to mods. Just look how modability changes the lifespan of the game.

Ok, so it's not only that haven't heard of of a finished product, you also fail to understand the concept of a finished product.

Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy AC once in a while. But at it's core it's a very barebones "racing" sim. The MP is rubbish and the SP against AI doesn't hold up well against other titles. So what are you going to do with such a platform? Drifting, hording mods and free roaming. If AC was our last option for sim racing this hobby would be pretty sad.

therefore the concurrent figures will be low
Those numbers do not reflect only online racing activities, they reflect who is playing what (on Steam).
When you play AMS2, if your Steam is online, you are counted.

I don't understand people, there are way too non-serious arcade games on this list. Disney Speedom in a race department forum?

So, to be clear, because some people also enjoy AC for driving a car somewhere, drifting, the whole player base of AC, which by the way is 20 times the size of the successful "racing game" are not racing cars, either offline or online. This comment suits you well.
I am sorry, i dont get what you mean with "suits me well".

Even among die hard AC fans, like Gamermuscle, it's a well known fact that the vast vast majority of AC users are just roaming or drifting. Its not me saying, its themselves saying.
So no, its not "some people". ITs the demographic of the game. You can check yourself.

How many people don't want to drift or free roam lovely coasts or simply never online.
How many of those have steam offline and are doing who knows what series.

I mean honestly think about it, is all these big and tiny improvements to content ( SOME GREAT ONES ) done and used by online mostly ?

I think not in fact I would wager it.

Here is another analogy :) lol

LA Canyons has 500k+ downloads.
Now for some reason it does not display how many for each version which all other content I look at does .

Anyway the last is the best so say only 100k download it ( which probably improves percentages )

That would mean even if everyone online was playing LAC it would still only be, no, not even 10% of the peeps have got it.

Tell me :roflmao:what are the other 399,999 doing ? playing tidily winks ?

Or do the other 400K download for the sake of it.

Sure would be a lot that download everything just to have it, still I could not believe for one second more are not running coast offline in their own barbie world.

He is right. When I try to find a normal race in AC its almost impossible because almost all servers are filled with kids that do road car shows in Tokyo with arcade style road cars, they do drifting in mods, they show their AC mod cars in the Nürburgring tourist practice with friends or they drive on some California mod track and when i finally found a server those kids feel lost and crash into me on purpose. Yes sometimes I also have a great deal race with a race car on a circuit in AC with some great racers, but that's becoming an exception. Luckily theres LMU/league's for serious sim racers but I'm not a big fan of scheduling races. And offline is impossible because of the AI. So yes, maybe 5%, max. 10% of the AC racers are actually "sim racing/sim racers" so these statistics about AC dont say much because in AMS2/LMU/RF2/iR/ACC it are almost all sim racers.

P.S. Barbie World was meant as a compliment.
I mean isn't that what offline LAC users have on the CD player sometimes.
I certainly would. lol

Just saying. :coffee:

I personally have enjoyed all the Sims and still fire them up, but at the moment BeamNG has that extra 5% magic that no other Sim has.

Working in the BeamNG Showroom, creating extra lighting for effect with the latest Mod purchased...'Gavril Dynamo' showing some of many variants that are included in the Pack:inlove:

A fact, well known or not, is always supported by data, that is what makes a fact a fact.
Do you have any data to back this fact? Could you share the data?
Opinion on the other end, does not require proof, it does not matter, it is just an opinion.
Many people having the same opinion does not make that opinion a fact, just a belief.
