Multi-class, Pitstops and Fuji Speedway Heading To Rennsport This Month

The Rennsport Closed Beta is set to expand this time next week, with a 1.8.5 update that includes a new car, track and endurance-racing-related features.

Fresh gameplay features are heading the way of those in the Rennsport closed beta, alongside some new content.

There’s an extra track, the arrival of a much-teased prototype and further news of what is expected late this year.

The 1.8.5 update will be available 16th May 2024.

Notable Gameplay Features Added

But, before all of that, it has been confirmed that pitstops, longer racers, damage and increased grid sizes will be available when the 1.8.5 update lands later this month.

The total race entry size will grow from 12 to 24 cars, and multi-class races consisting of LMDh and GT3 car categories are said to be possible.

How the pitstops function, what damage can occur and how long exactly the races will be remains unclear, other than not “full-blown six-hour races yet,” according to Lead Game Designer, Kim Orremark.

A feature seemingly added for league racers, there should be the ability to add your own trackside advertising banner plus the ability to add friends via the Rennsport companion app.

“It's the base for the Rennsport Club system we will introduce by the end of the year.

Potential features touted for the community aspects include push notifications when a friend beats your best time or loading a friend’s ghost car.

Fuji Speedway and Porsche 963 LMDh

The long-awaited Porsche 963 LMDh will also arrive with the next update, bringing with it a new class of contemporary race car.

This was first showcased in July 2023 and will finally be playable within the beta seven days from now.

It will be joined by Fuji International Speedway. The Japanese venue dates back to the mid-1960s, and while it had held Formula 1 races, it is perhaps best known for hosting sportscars such as the FIA World Endurance Championship and the local Super GT competition.

This update is claimed to be an extension of the previously published 2024 roadmap for the embryonic sim racing platform. Within the ‘Q2’ window a 1.9.0 update is also expected, with changes to in-game progression, online ranking systems, GT4 cars – plus additional GT3 machinery.

The Rennsport-utilising ESL R1 sim racing competition returns one day after the latest update for six online rounds and one in-person LAN event at the Esports World Cup. Further features pertaining to ‘endurance racing’ are expected later in the year.

The platform is currently committed to distributing 2,500 keys per week. Have you received one recently? Let us know in the comments below or on X: @OverTake_gg

Yes and it's worthless. With UEVR it's even worse than the VR implementation of WRC. Completely unplayable sadly enough and no word about official VR support after they announced it in the beginning. So its a worthless title to me.

And what's the purpose of all those keys? Why don't they just open the game without keys. I really don't get it.

Somehow I've received three keys in total, but I haven't used one yet. It being an Epic Store exclusive makes it very uninteresting for me, adding to the general lack of interest I have in the sim or its current features and content offerings.

Would you mind sharing one of those keys?

I've also received multiple emails, but it's exactly the same key code in every one.

Still no reason as to why we would actually want to play this over any other game. We have enough random piles of tracks and cars already, give us something meaningful (to fill the hole that was obviously supposed to be NFTs).

Great news... Looking forwards to this update...

This has all the potential to be the next AC but even easier to mod and personalize with the superior physics of rF2... And if it's as easy to mod the physics as they're making the textures and models then it'll explode on the marketplace...

It's amazing how many people write off things for small reasons just because it's not their favourite development team... Oh no you have to download Epic and get offers for free games... What a bunch of tribalistic sad sacks...

I understand the VR only crowd has their own issues, mainly wanting to drive a race car with the same amount of neck movement that you can a street car, it's in the BETA stages for many reasons and VR is one of them...

Patience for those suffering from tribalism only applies to their favourite and any other company gets jumped on even if it's been months or still in BETA stages... Given the failures of the last project that tried to splice pmotor physics into another graphics engine are still ongoing a decade later and many of that engines fans will cry "It's still under construction" when it's criticized... It's more than a little hypocritical...

Ha Rennsport continues to pivot to new stuff, now its a companion app that alerts me if my friend beats my time! Ill use this in the middle of the day at the office: "sorry guys duty calls have to rush home my time has been beaten, you dont understand you are not in the Rennsport club".

When will a subscription model be teased for the Rennsport Club?

Physics physics physics.... everything else is secondary.

That being said, I'm sure I'll be checking out the new content once and then forget about it again cos the physics will be horrible again. :roflmao:

Focusing on useless app gimmicks while still having the worst ffb driving expierence of all sims. It´s a joke doing ESL and such without having the basics done properly.
Regards the keys if you looking to their discord it´s l almost dead, zero interest at the moment.

Have a key sitting in my inbox, but being relegated to VR only these days have not had the opportunity to give Rennsport a test drive. I'd love for them to be successful long term, but I'm not inclined to install Epic store and reintegrate a monitor with the rig to give it a go at this stage.

Here's to hoping they make good progress and deliver a compelling sim in the long run.

Literally this game has received nothing but hate since day 0, i wonder why

Maybe because the money has been spent to generate a hype and that at the end its launch was disapponting, all other sim titles were much better in every aspect. The only things it does better than most titles are the fast loading times. It's free, so we should not complain and indeed not get in the hate train. I hope they'll manage to do something satisfiying at one time or another, but I have doubts because this project must cost a lot.
