Following two seasons in the debut 2023 season, the Rennsport utilising ESL R1 returns soon, with a grand final in Saudi Arabia.

As reported by OverTake in February, the ESL R1 competition that uses Rennsport as a basis will return this year.
Following an absence, the starting date has been confirmed – 17th May – for a ‘Spring Season’ although the full calendar including the number of rounds, dates, cars and tracks remains unannounced.
One criticism of the championship last year was a dearth of tracks, endless Hockenheimring races a tenet of the format.
While not addressing the 2024 ESL R1 Spring Season specifically, Rennsport CEO Morris Hebecker was keen to point out that more venues are in development.
“There will be a lot more content, new cars, new racetracks... more mod and community content, the tools are definitely on the way.
“On the other hand, there is the sporting... a really important part of the Rennsport environment.”
The recent Porsche Esports Carrera Cup Deutschland championship made use of Rennsport and even the mod track, Orchard Road, converted from Assetto Corsa, for its fourth round.
This time, the series will incorporate the upcoming Esports World Cup, a renamed Gamers8 event, with an in-person finale in Riyadh.
The controversially Saudi Arabia-affiliated event will feature a $500,000 prize pool (split across drivers’ and teams’ titles) for the ESL R1 competitors. A line-up of 48 drivers and 12 teams is expected alongside a knock-out format, with fresh entries set for 2024.
Last year, Maximilian Benecke and Porsche Coanda won the respective Gamers8 events. The sim racing portion this year will be held in August, part of the event’s ‘Week 8’.
