Rennsport Seeking Your Ideas, Development Priorities

Rennsport Seeking Your Ideas, Development Priorities.jpg
The embryonic sim racing platform’s latest survey would like to know your priority features.

A new survey has been issued to some Rennsport closed beta members, and it asks users what they like, don’t like and what they aspire to.

Alongside the typical questions pertaining to your sim racing set-up, there are three qualitative queries with the opportunity to provide more detailed feedback:
  • Cars and tracks you’d like to see in Rennsport
  • Features you’d like to see in Rennsport
  • Any other thoughts or feedback
These are potentially key. Whenever an article is posted about Rennsport, many valid questions about its place in the market, purpose and its future plans crop up. Now, provided you are in the beta, there is the chance to let rip and provide feedback to help potentially shape the future product – in whatever form that may end up being.

There is also a giant list of features, from triple screens to virtual reality, controller support and ‘better’ driving physics for members to assign in order of priority.

The nascent platform has been going through what seems to be a transformational period of late. First unveiled with notable fanfare in 2022, progress since then has been seemingly ponderous.

This year, however, several job listings have been published for game development roles and a roadmap was published last month. 2,500 keys per week are currently being distributed.

A second developer ‘radio check’ platform showcase is expected imminently.

The move follows surveys from the likes of EA SPORTS WRC – which hinted at the possibility of DLC and new features – and iRacing.

What do you think is the most important ‘feature’ that Rennsport should work on? Let us know in the comments below, or on X: @OverTake_gg

VR. But they have to change Rennsport to forward rendering to add MSAA, Quad views foveated for proper VR support.

Their engine and current deferred rendering choice was a big mistake. If this remains unchanged then I'll never play this title. With UEVR I had insanely low fps and all kinds of visual bugs, much worse even than ACC.

VR! My worry is the ship has sailed and if good VR was wanted then VR should have been the basis for the game. ACC suffers from VR performance and I suspect RS will also have the same issues given that it is using the same engine although a newer version.

I hope we get to see the results of the survey.

After all this time, they are still wondering what the game offer should be like? Is it not something you decide during one of the very first meeting?
The whole situation surrounding this title is more bizarre with every new announcement.
I will be happy to try whatever they come up with, if they do ever deliver us a game to play.

I'd like a proper historic racer but AC mods and a bit of Raceroom and AMS2 will have to do. I doubt this will be anything but modern cars.

I'll second that. Are they this clueless this far into development? Oh boy.

I've been simming since the days of GPL. And if there's something I would hate to see another promising sim approach is GT4/3/2/1 cars. Why in the world you would start doing the same thing that's already been done at least by 3 other games on the market? Where is the innovation? Where's the reason why I should pick this game instead of the other 3?

You'd figure that the success of Assetto Corsa basically gives you a good enough recipe to build upon - variety and openness.

Good luck on the chosen path. Not a game I'll buy, not even if the physics are 1000% real.

Then it will be for the most a big shimmer/jaggies fest in VR mode. I know one Russian flysim studio did the same, they never could repair this aspect for VR users and made me quite this game.

Premium
Trackir for me, i have triples. buttons to look left/right are HUGE no go for me. Just like LeMans

Is this thing available already? Honest question, IDK. I suppose not.

Jimmy made a joke recently in that race steward series of videos he has.

The guilty for an accident was sent to jail until he could get a Rennsport beta key.

It seems to be the same as for life imprisonment...

I think they are at the worst moment for their game. With the arrival of AC Evo and the huge progress of Automobilista 2, ACC, and LFM in the race for simulators, another player would be a waste of money for the developer. The thing is, they don't even know what they really want; they want to be GT7 (arcade look) with iRacing physics (sim racing status). They need to focus and put all their work into something new. Not repeat until the consumer is tired. From what has been seen in various forums and videos on YT... the game is good, but it lacks soul.

I cant even think of a unique sellingpoint for this, and i think nothing that people mention in this thread (VR, historical content etc) will help (at least by itself). There are competitors that do these things quite well.

It has UE5 but that does not seem to lead to a step up in graphics. Maybe opensource the whole development, and work on DLC?

Due the NFT fiasco and the esport scene being quite boring I don't see why this game should exist.

Also the UE isn't the best engine for simracing at all.

So I don't see many choices. Close it all o change in something different, very different from current status.

Probably I would change Rennsport bran in a service for simracers than a game. Something like server hosting, wearable (for simracing of course) etc etc
