Not content with the upcoming 2D management title Golden Lap, the creators of Art of Rally look to be dabbling in something else.

Colour us intrigued. Creator of Absolute Drift and Art of Rally, Funselektor, has taken to social media to share a teaser image for something different.

It is currently working, in collaboration with Strelka Games, on a management game, Golden Lap. This was originally a 2017 prototype by the studio’s founder Dune Casu, which at one point was cancelled, but is now expected to launch later this year.

Golden Lap - Perhaps not the only project Funselektor is working on...

Perhaps of note, the Strelka team will be working on the main technical development for Golden Lap, while Funselektor is involved with QA and the overall game direction.

When asked by OverTake recently about further new content for Art of Rally, Casu explained:

“For now, no. We’ve finished our planned content updates and will be focusing on new games.”

Alongside Golden Lap, could this low-resolution image be from the early prototyping stages of a second new project?

The is a shadow outline of a vehicle, reminiscent in our eyes to be a Land Rover Defender 90, with overlanding gear atop a roof rack. This is placed upon a flat-shaded undulating environment.

The image is accompanied by a yellow and green emoji – a Shoshinsha Mark. The Japanese symbol represents beginners or the start of a new endeavour.

Funselektor has precedent here, with what turned out to be Golden Lap teased via one social media image way back in November 2022.

Well playing the DOS 5.0 Stunts game in 1990 during my uni studies, 3D graphics were available here 1.5 year prior to Wolfenstein3D, in addition ability to easily design your own tracks, I would've thought a bit of more progress in 2024 within this genre ...

They teased it all the way back when Art of Rally released. The cutscene after completing the career mode ended with something along the lines of "Maybe one day you'll master The Golden Lap".

Why would companies improve something for free when they can charge you for improving it.
