When it released on PC in November 2023, Super Woden GP 2 presented racing game fans with a charming top-down racer. This summer, it will make its way to consoles as well.
Racing games do not always have to be super serious, and Super Woden GP 2 showed that very well when it first launched in 2023. The top-down racer immediately reminded us of a cross between Gran Turismo and Circuit Superstars. It also was well-received by the community, with the game winning the "Indie Game Project of the Year" in the 2023 RaceDepartment/OverTake awards.
So far, Super Woden GP 2 is only available on PC, but players will soon be able to enjoy the game on their favorite console - and even get to take it with them wherever they want. Developer ViJuDa, which is the one-man studio of Víctor Justo Dacruz, has announced that SWGP2 is coming to PlayStation 4/5 and Xbox One/Series X|S, as well as SteamDeck and Nintendo Switch.
The game's laid-back approach should lend itself well to the handheld consoles in particular, similar to the Switch version of Circuit Superstars. When the console versions of SWGP2 are going to arrive is not quite clear yet, with ViJuDa simply mentioning "this summer" as a rough time frame, adding that "I hope to be able to announce the exact day as soon as possible."
Keeping an eye on their Twitter (or X, if you prefer) account should pay off, then, with the northern hemisphere's Summer not being far off anymore.
