Community member SHR Modding has created some of the best sounding cars in the Assetto Corsa community, many of which are available for free here at RaceDepartment.
Great sounds for a sim racing car can add a layer of immersion and improve the enjoyment of driving. RaceDepartment member SHR Modding (ACFAN) has created some of the best sounding car mods in the Assetto Corsa community, and even shared his talents with Reiza in their development of Automobilista 2.
SHR hasn’t limited himself to only one type of car. There are currently sounds on offer for road cars, GTE and GT3 tin tops, modern and classic F1 cars, and even a transport van. Comparison videos of his work are rampant on YouTube, and the quality of the work is immediately evident when compared to each mod’s respective real-world counterpart.
His most popular and well-loved sound mod is for the modern Porsche 911 RSR. Not content with creating one great sound, he amended the mod to include different sounds for the various exhaust configurations for the car, including split rear, centre rear, and side exiting exhaust.
Another hair-raising sound mod from SHR, and one of the more recent releases is the screaming BMW V12 found in the McLaren F1 GTR. The car itself is a work of art and deserving of these supplemental sound treatments.
The latest version of the F1 Sounds Megapack from SHR Modding includes sounds for each of the current generation of Formula 1 engine manufacturers to mod the Race Sim Studio Formula Hybrid cars. In addition to the modern cars, SHR also included sounds for classic cars such as the Ferrari F2004 and the Renault R25 in the pack.
A lesser-known collaboration for SHR Modding was with fellow RD community member Fuzo in the creation of the brilliant Cupra Leon Competición car. The sounds are just one outstanding facet of this car, and it’s definitely worth adding to your AC collection if you haven’t already done so.
The dozens of mods available here at RaceDepartment from SHR Modding are an excellent way to enhance your favourite cars in Assetto Corsa, or bring new appeal to a car you might not enjoy yet. A big thanks to community member SHR Modding for sharing his great work with us.
