Tim Jarschel has extended his lead at the top of the DTM Esports Pro standings with another win and podium during the second round, but reigning champion Kevin Siggy remains in contention thanks to a Race 2 victory.

For the second round, and races three and four, of the 2024 DTM Esports Pro championship, the drivers headed to the Nürburgring’s Grand Prix Sprint Circuit.
Last time out at the Norisring, Porsche 911 GT3 R drivers took both wins – Marcell Csincsik the first, Tim Jarschel the second to top the standings.
A six-event season will determine this season’s champion, with a prize pool of €50,000 up for grabs. This is RaceRoom Racing Experience’s premier championship, with the entry list determined via open-qualifying and a series of shoot-out races.
As the Cupra Leon pace car peeled off into the pitlane to start the 20-minute race, the over-30-car field spread to a chaotic five-wide heading into Haug-Haken.
In the midst of it all, Siggy was turned around by Csincsik, with several drivers taking to the grass in avoidance. The Slovenian retired from the race.
Just ahead of the pandemonium, Wisniewski held on around the outside of the first corner, then took the lead from Jarschel through the Mercedes Arena. However, the latter fought back into the tight Kurzanbindung, retaking the position.
The lead would not change until the end, thanks in part to Wisniewski battling a hard-charging Jiri Toman, allowing the pole-sitter to extend a gap.

Behind, there were enthralling battles between Gianmarco Fiduci and last-minute entrant Alessandro Ottaviani on the fringes of the top ten. 2020 virtual DTM champion Moritz Löhner managed to jump from 27th on the grid to ninth by the chequered flag, although that move is believed to be under investigation.
Off the standing start – as opposed to the expected rolling due to a suspected safety car error – Siggy had the quicker reaction, as Jarschel swiped across the track and into the side of the Audi, but to no avail.
Erhan Jajovski spun through the Mercedes Arena on the opening lap, meanwhile, Löhner once again vaulted up the order. From 19th on the grid this time to eighth, dancing through those facing the wrong way, although faded slightly to 11th by the end – the highest non-Porsche or Audi.
With just over 15 minutes of the race left, Jarschel pitted from second in an effort to undercut leader Siggy. While the positions remained the same, the gap had reduced.
In the mid-pack, Marko Pejic sliced by Ferrari driver Isaac Gillissen into the first corner, Ottaviani making contact in the Arena trying to follow through.

With two minutes left, the focus was on the battle for the lead, the gap now down to 0.3s. The Falken Porsche tapped the rear of the Redline Audi in the middle of the third corner and again through Kurzanbindung on the penultimate lap.
Heading onto the final tour, Siggy felt the need to defend into Haug-Haken and into the hairpin that delineates the sprint layout from the grand prix loop. It was enough to hold on to take the first non-Porsche win of the season by 0.2s at the line.
Jarschel now has a lofty championship position, having finished in the top two during all four races so far this season. The championship heads to a virtual Lausitzring next on 22nd March.
