F1 24 Launch Date Leak, New Game Coming In May?

F1-24-Launch-Date-Leak-1024x576.jpg
Formula One fans could be looking at a May launch date, as an F1 24 leak reportedly suggests. That would make for an even earlier release than that of F1 23.

EA Sports and Codemasters went with a relatively early release date for F1 23, launching the title on June 16, 2023. Now, its successor could take to the virtual grid even earlier, namely in May of 2024 already according to a leak.

According to leaker billbil-kun on Twitter, who had been spot-on regarding F1 23‘s launch date as well as the naming of the EA Sports WRC series changing over from the previous DiRT moniker, F1 24 is going to hit the shelves on May 31, 2024. As with previous releases, those who preorder the Champions Edition will be able to play the game three days early.

F1 24 Leak: Prices & Platforms

Meanwhile, the prices for F1 24 are going to stay the same compared to F1 23, according to the leak. This means that F1 24 will be available for €69.99/£59.99/$69.99 for the Standard Edition and €89.99/£79.99/$89.99 for the Champions Edition. The console versions will be €79.99/£69.99/$69.99 (Standard) and €99.99/£89.99/$89.99 (Champions).

As you would expect, the leak mentions PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S as platforms for the game. Whether or not the previous generations’ consoles (so PS4 and Xbox One) will also be included remains to be seen – F1 23 was, in fact, released on both.

An official announcement for F1 24 is expected for late February, with the leak mentioning February 27 as the most likely date.

Early, But Not The Earliest

While May 31 would mark the earliest release for a current-season F1 game since Codemasters acquired the license to the championship, it would not take the crown for earliest F1 game release during a season. In fact, all the way back at the turn of the millenium, F1 2000 launched on March 24 in Europe and March 27 in the United States. This was around the Brazilian Grand Prix, which was round 2 of the 2000 season.

The F1 games offer a very good single player racing experience in my opinion, however I do not welcome these shorter and shorter development times. While the core of the F1 games is changed very little year on year, the bugs are not ironed out (23 having input/FFB issues, Alt+Tab), and always harder to run while looking the same-ish, meanwhile image quality seems to get always worse for some reason. F1 23 even with supersampling looks kind of blurry, native 1080p image has become simply terrible. F1 23 also has so much bloat with collecting stupid stickers and parts, while a simple race or time trial is placed deeper behind these useless "F1 World" features so it's hard to even ignore their existence.

I will absolutely not buy it at full price, way overpriced for an annual release with all the legacy inaccurate tracks, and the bloat that is being added into the newest games. In contrast I enjoy racing the AI and I also enjoy the general driving experience with a wheel, so I might eventually pick it up with a right deal.

While it's easy to blame EA for everything, let's not forget Codemasters as an "indie" team started the bloat and MTX. It just continued and expanded since...

70 for F1. I'll pass. Considering the last few F1 games have been pretty bad overall. I'd rather just download/buy F1 mods for AC and be done with it. I'm sure VRC will come out soon'ish especially since the '23 mods are now on sale.
AC AI is arguably the worst on the market. No point having awesome top quality physics if i cannot have a good race, nor have a proper career mode, and all of it is just a spec series race.

agree with this, I bought a lot of RSS formulas and VRC's, but in the end, you want to use them for racing and not just hot-lapping. And after a few hours of setting up a championship in asseto corsa, you then have to restart the race 100 times until you get the good one.

I had a lot of fun with 23, but no so much that I'm prepared to pony up 70 odd euros again after less than a year. And then have to go through the experience of encountering all the same bugs that were present with 23 at launch.

If it releases at the end of May then I'll bet it'll be on sale mid July anyway.

Is there anyone that thinks the sticker album, casual clothing store or hot laps cars in the F1 series are worthwhile?

honestly ? who is buying at full price at day one on PC or console, there are massive third party key resellers or game pass, Since 15 years I have every games at day one and I have saved 50% per game.

for 200 games at -50% with the key resellers I have saved 200x35€ = 7000€ ;), that's why I have simucube 2, 4090, top monitors....

I can maybe make an economy advices thread if you want.

I wouldn't even buy it when it was recently on sale at its lowest price so far. I am so disenchanted with their slow development and ignoring the bugs. There are so many other options.

Yeah, but I don't need to economise like that to able to afford the toys I want. It's far more out of principle that I object to the pricing which IMO is ripping people off every year for a copy and paste of last year's installment.

I also try not to boast about what gear I have in every other post, unlike some.

nobody forces you to pay or play, and the most important is if you are happy.

My words exactly, i bought F1 22 last and that was still great but the My Team mode had zero improvements since 21. And then 23 had zero improvements too, so i skipped that. If 24 will have no improvements then it will be another skip. Only reason i would buy 24 would be if the VR was fixed but that was terrible in both the last games from what i have seen. Oh and those bugs ..

AI is only really bad if you're racing at AI 96 and above. I don't. I am not that good. I just like to drive and have fun. I don't race online either. I make my own career and choose the tracks I want and don't want. All of which is a lot cheaper than 70 dollars for a yearly game that is as bad as it is. But I'm glad someone is giving money to codemaster because it certainly won't be me. I am gonna guess you buy Call of Duty every year too.

What a terrible response. The guy obviously likes assetto corsa and is only speaking the truth. The AI is bad. Stop coping. Everything else it is the best, but not AI.

My original comment never ever mentioned AI. I only commented about AI when he did and with my response I didn't say it wasn't bad. I just said below 96 its not as bad. I am not a real race car driver so I don't need to race at 100 AI, I'm not even any good so i rarely race AI above 93.

and at 96 and below I can have great races and I have had them. I'm not out trying to prove anything to anyone or myself. I just like to enjoy the game. Some seem to take it to seriously and need to realize they aren't real racecar drivers nor will they ever be one and just to learn how to have some fun and relax for once. Life is not a dick, don't take it so hard.

The assetto AI sucks even at 60. Not sure how you got that under 96 is good. I have 600 hours of just trying RSS and vrc cars and making different championships in assetto. You are just coming out as an ignorant superfan who cannot admit something is wrong in his favourite game. Just stop being cringe on the internet. You are reacting to 'Haha" on my comment which is perfectly reasonable about having to restart the race 5 times at least because something happened outside of your control. :)
